Caffettiamo Siracusa — Restaurant in Syracuse

I had seen this caffè during a google search and decided to walk over and have a granita. We're from Montreal so speaking in French, English and Italian. The 1st of 2 young men that served us asked which language we wanted to be served in (English or Italian), very welcoming :) Side note: Go there early in the morning if you prefer the Lemon Granita as it is very popular and eventually runs out. I had their Mandorla Granita with brioche and it was excellent. My daughter had a Nutella Frappè and a Cannoli and they were both delicious. The genuine kindness of both young gentlemen taking care of us is a reason to return on its' own. They helped with touristic information. A special thanks to Simone! An oasis and a gem! We needed a place to while away the time until the Church of Santa Lucia del Sepolchro awakened from siesta for us to visit the Caravaggio. Our hopes weren’t high. This whole part of town seemed quiet. Google reviews led us to Caffettiamo Siracusa. From the moment we walked in, father Francesco and son/chef Alessandro showered us with care and attention. We ordered a pistachio coffee and a tea, yet found ourselves plied with tarts, cakes, chocolate (just for us to try!). And they were fabulous. Francesco even talked to us about Caravaggio’s life. I was looking for a place with good ratings for breakfast near the Catacombs and happened to find this place. I'm so glad I did. The ricotta pastry I had was delicious with a nice lemon flavor and the cappuccino was a nice compliment to the pastry. I normally have to put sugar in my coffee, but the coffee here is good on its own. The cleanliness of the place was good and the staff was kind to speak English for me, explaining what was in each pastry. Would definitely return if/when I return to Sicily in...
