I wandered into Venchi at Malpensa like Aeneas stumbling into Carthage—battle-worn, jetlagged, and spiritually depleted. And then I tasted the pistachio gelato. Friends, it was ambrosia. Not the poetic kind. The actual nectar of Olympus, smuggled down Mount Etna in a refrigerated cart pulled by Mercury himself.

Juno, goddess of power and grudges, would throw down her scepter for a scoop of the gianduja. Venus herself would cancel her beauty regimen if it meant unlimited access to the dark chocolate sorbet. Even Jupiter, high king of the gods, would trade his thunderbolt for one of those silky, gold-dripped cones.

I stood there in Terminal 1, a humble mortal, transformed. No longer a traveler—I was Orpheus, singing the praises of stracciatella to the underworld. I was Romulus, founding a new Rome with every glorious bite. I was Icarus, flying too close to the sun, except this time, the sun is a scoop of caramel swirl, and melting is the whole point.

Forget duty-free. Forget airport lounges. Venchi is the altar. The cone is the chalice. The gelato is divine favor.

5 out of 5 laurel wreaths. Would fight a Minotaur for another scoop. Et tu, Gelato?...

The reviews are TRUE! The 3 staff on duty were so friendly and patient with tourists that it felt so unreal (becaude the service/staff experienced in main Milan was so average/lacking). It looked like they were really trained to attend to tourist customers and it was 100% a pleasant experience - no fear of asking questions!

Every item you purchase lets you purchase their chocolate nuggets at 1eur each! So I purchased 4 bars that I liked and asked to split into 4 transactions. The staff just did it and did not show any signs of displeasure.

There was also a free gift of a small choc bar if you create an account with them and purchase something. What a nice treat before flying off!

Thank you to the team, I felt so happy leaving the shop.

By the way, I heard that milan centrale has a different promo where you get to purchase 5 of the nuggets at 1eur each...

Grateful for this at the airport! Their prices seem reasonable (I can’t remember how much they charge in the city) but €3.50 for a classic milk shake is pretty decent - you get 2 scoops of gelato or sorbet of your choice and they blend it with milk - it’s a lot runnier and smaller than the typical shake in the US. Now I wonder how many scoops of ice cream must go into a standard American shake 🙀
