Venice Private Boat Tours — Attraction in undefined

A highlight of our trip to Venice was a guided boat trip to Burano with Derek and Venice Private Boat Tours. We'd planned to go by public boat but Derek was recommended and so glad we made this choice.

His professionalism is excellent. Derek was very responsive on booking logistics, originally booked for 6pm tour and he contacted us because of predicted rain (which happened) to reschedule. This allowed us to not waste an evening and had day tour instead. We were asked if we preferred red, white wine. We chose procecco which he kept on ice for us throughout the day. This is a small boat that gives you up close experience with nothing between you and the view, slowing or stopping when requested.

Derek is incredibly knowledgeable of landmarks and history giving context to what you are seeing. He made several suggestions that improved the experience that we would not have known to do. Because of Derek's contacts, he was able to get us a reservation at Michelin restaurant in Burano that was fully booked!

We added a couple of hours to the tour because we were having so much fun and if there had been time on his schedule we would have booked a tour another day. We were picked up and returned directly at our hotel.

The cost is very reasonable ( we actually told him he should increase his rates) and we couldn't be more enthusiastic about Venice Private Boat Tours!

Perfect Day in Venice...

The highlight of our stay in Venice! We reached out to Derek months ago to see if we could organise a custom island tour, he quickly responded and was happy to accommodate our request. Over the months leading up to our stay, Derek kept in touch and was even kind enough to make a reservation for us at our favourite restaurant the night before our tour with him as I was having trouble contacting them. Derek picked us up close to our accommodation, the boat is a traditional wooden boat and very comfortable. Derek's knowledge on Venice was incredible, we learnt so much from him as he pointed things out and answered our questions. It felt like we were with an old friend, he was great with our kids and just a really lovely person. Our first stop was Torcello and we had as much time as we liked. Then on to Burano where we had lunch and then we went to Lido. Derek had recommended bringing our bathers. He kindly walked with us to the beach, showed us around and organised an umbrella and chairs for us. We felt Derek went above and beyond to ensure our day was the best. Derek was absolutely amazing! From the moment he picked us up in the most stunning boat, it was clear we were in for a truly unforgettable experience. Our first stop was Murano, where he introduced us to one of his friends, and we had the incredible opportunity to watch glassblowing up close. Next, we explored the charming and colorful town of Burano, taking in its unique beauty.

What made the trip extra special were the personal touches—Derek guided us through quiet canals where locals live, giving us a glimpse of authentic Venetian life. This experience is 100% better than a typical 30-minute gondola ride. Skip that and book with Derek—you absolutely won’t regret it!

He ended the trip by taking us to the best gelato spot we had during our entire two-week vacation. Not only is Derek knowledgeable and entertaining, but he also captured candid photos and videos throughout the day, which made the experience even more memorable.
