Eh....it was average. Wouldn't encourage or discourage eating here. Our gondola driver recommended it. He was a local from the neighborhood, so we trusted the recommendation.
Here are the caveats......well, there's only really one caveat.....we are from the U.S. .......we just do things differently in America, I guess.
I couldn't figure out why they put bread, olive oil and vinaigrette on the table but yet I had to ask for plates to utilize these goodies half way through our time there. Shouldn't they automatically bring the plates out or at least ask if we wanted them? In the US they wouldn't put these things on the table and then make you ask to complete the experience.
The food was okay, but not exceptional and nothing I would say I had an "ethnic experience" over. Again, maybe I'm too American, but the gnocchi we ordered was mostly potato-like and seemed to have no pasta involved at all. The fried seafood, fish and vegetable dish was similar to that which you can get in any average Japanese restaurant in America. Nothing special. The green salad was a bowl of mixed lettuce. That's it. No "toppings" of any kind. Again, sorry, an American thing probably.
Go in with average expectations and you'll have an average experience. Otherwise, you will be...
Read moreI wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I was starving and couldn't wait to eat so stopped at this place. I've given it 2 stars because it's quite cute and a nice place to sit in the sun plus the prosecco was very good. The food however which is why I was there was a huge disappointment. I'm not a massive fish fan but love white fish. I got the creamed cod and polenta starter...it was awful. It tasted so fishy and I don't believe cod would ever taste fishy the way this did. I'm from England where we get served cod alot... this cod served today was obviously not fresh enough. I couldn't eat any of it so I sent it away. The waiter just took the plate qith no question as to why I wasn't eating it. It was 23 euros so not cheap and neither did they offer me an alternative. Next course...was seabass ... again another fish I eat a lot of. This also was fishy. Too fishy. I didn't eat that either. Again no offer of changing it to anything. I couldn't be bothered to ruin my one day in venice so left quietly and starving. I ended up ordering baked potatoes and that actually did the job. I should have order we d that alone as it was 6 euros . Instead I left qith a bill of 118euros. Waste ofoney. Waste of.time Don't bother wasting...
Read moreBy far one of the most disappointing culinary experiences I’ve ever had. The restaurant served us stale bread.
The dishes we ordered were even worse.
Scampi gnocchi - scampi was not fresh, shell was soft and definitely had an off smell and taste to it. The gnocchi was over cooked.
Clam spaghetti - spaghetti was well cooked but had majority empty clams. Dish was too salty. We found so many empty shells we started fishing them out of the plate just to see if they had dropped to the bottom of the plate.
We spoke to someone after dinner to provide some feedback. The person we spoke to just said that we were wrong and that the bread and seafood were fresh from this morning. Either he was lying about how fresh it was or they have poor food hygiene standards which is why the scampi was off and the...
