The setting is very tranquil, with long views, in a small town that was refreshing to visit after the populated cities, even in winter. I saw a similar da Vinci exhibit a few years ago (on loan) and expected this to be a repeat; but it all felt fresh. Most likely, our experience was enhanced because we attended with a Viking tour guide, who was local and very thorough. But, I do feel the museum organization has created a space that is thoughtful, with a clean, contemporary aesthetic. The curators have successfully managed the task of transforming the 2D evidence of brilliant, conceptual thinking into tangible representations—even expressing the limitations of trial-and-error.

Some reviews ask for interactivity, which was fun at the other exhibit I visited but, for me, that would have changed the mood of the space to be more about guest entertainment and less about exploring the intellect of the person/epoch. For the curators: re: 4th wave (not feminist but empathetic) programming, maybe explore the theme of divergent thinking and its ability to help/harm society, access to education, etc.

Finally, the little coffee shop was a pleasant addition to the property, with a well-prepared (not too sweet) dessert. The shop could easily been touristy but was not, which also supported my...

Interesting museum with wooden models of some of Leonardo da Vinci's inventions.

It is over priced at 11 eur though. Unfortunately it is not possible to buy a ticket for just the museum before late in the afternoon.

I think free entry for children to museums is an excellent idea. Not that it's implemented here! But I find it odd when the price for two adults is 2 eur higher than for two adults and a child...

English translation leaflets now...

A bit disappointed. We expected to see some evidence of a 500 year old building, lived in by Leonardo da Vinci, but the building had so much renervation work it looked like it had been built yesterday. Nothing much to see here. The building that showed facsimiles of his paintings with historic facts about them and his life at the time was very interesting. I think you need to be a real fan of Leonardo to visit.

We also visited the second part of the museum, which was a bit hard to find at first, but it was really interesting and very well designed. Both parts of the Da Vinci experience were worth it -fascinating exhibits, and a very enjoyable visit overall!
