Buzō-ji — Attraction in Chikushino

Decided to drop by for a one night ryokan stay near this temple which is only less than an hour of train & bus ride.

Quiet and full of nature, this temple is the oldest temple in Kyushu, and a lot of people go up the hike to Mt Tenpai which have a beautiful observatory view of the who area. They also have a yearly schedule of water seasons which was interesting.

Small but peaceful shrine. Worth a quick stop before heading up the mountain.

We came at a time when the large wisteria tree was not flowering. It would be amazing to see it in full bloom.

This is apparently the oldest temple in Kyushu and the wisteria tree is apparently over...

このお寺は、天台宗のお寺で、御本尊は薬師如来像です。創建については、飛鳥時代とも奈良時代ともいわれ定かではありません。開基は、藤原鎌足の子孫藤原虎麿といわれ、虎麿が椿の木で薬師如来像を造り七堂伽藍を造り納めたのが始まりといわれています。虎麿は初代太宰帥蘇我日向臣無邪志(むさし)と同一人物ともいわれています。 虎麿の娘の病の治癒の為薬師如来に参り、お告げにより温泉の湯による治癒により病を治したといわれ、これが二日市温泉の始まりとつたえられています。 樹齢1300年といわれる藤も、藤原虎麿にちなんで植えられたものだそうです。 秋の紅...
