Highland Resort Hotel & Spa — Attraction in Fujiyoshida

This hotel is probably the best in the area which is why the price is so high. The reception area is very nice. There is a connecting walkway to the Fujiyama Onsen which was really convenient. The staff were ok - not as friendly as most other Japanese hotels I’ve stayed in. We had food in the Macaroni bar which was not great. The wait was long, the food was not that great and portion sizes were really small. My husband had the quiche and I chose the Rotiserie chicken salad. There were about 5 tiny pieces of chicken in the whole salad and (each piece about 1.5cm in size). The prices are high which I understand as it’s a hotel but to have such poor portion sizes isn’t acceptable. My salad did not come out until my husband had finished his quiche so the whole experience was a let down to be honest. ||This hotel was the only one in a three week trip that I booked through booking.com. I’m not sure if that means you get worse rooms when using an agent. But our room was small. The double bed was against the wall and I found it difficult to sleep against the wall. There were stains on the carpet. Otherwise the room was clean. The bathroom was well appointed. The bed was not comfortable - it was hard and the duvet cover was very silky and slippery that it came away from the cover, slipped off at night and the pillows were hard. ||I booked this hotel in the back of the great reviews and I couldn’t navigate their website very well from the uk so I had to choose booking.com. ||The hotel is a perfect position for Fuji and I would think that they have better rooms than the one we had (752). We didn’t have a view of Fuji although the room was advertised as a ‘room with a view’. We did have a view - of the theme park next door, not Mount Fuji. However, on this occasion that was great as they had a drone/firework display for both of the nights we stayed there which was an added bonus.||The hotel isn’t bad and is ideally positioned, it was clean but I have to say my room was a let down - it was the most expensive hotel I stayed in during my tour of Japan and probably was the least impressive. ||I read on a review that there is not much to eat around apart from the hotel, but there are a lot of places around, both local cuisine and a...

Very nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Ended up booking a double room with 2 beds because the ones with 1 bed were all gone at the time of booking. The lobby area was nice with lots of seating - food and drink are not allowed there though. ||Room was very spacious, and would have had a nice view of Mt. Fuji if the weather had cooperated for the one night we stayed. The toilet seat lights up and lifts as you enter the room which was the coolest toilet of the trip.||We arrived before check in, and the staff held our bags for us and brought to the room once our room was ready. ||Since it had rained all day and all night, we decided to try the buffet dining room for dinner. The food was hit or miss. There was a variety of Japanese and Western food. It included hot and cold food, manned stations, drink stations, and a dessert table. Some of the desserts (pudding, jelly) were good, and other items disappointing (omurice, pizza). Most of the food was just average though. We wished there were more Japanese options closer to the resort in case of bad weather.||The 7-11 nearby was pretty convenient to have.
