Just Back! 🚨 7-Day 6-Night Tokyo Suburbs Family Trip Guide: Avoiding the Pitfalls

Very nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Ended up booking a double room with 2 beds because the ones with 1 bed were all gone at the time of booking. The lobby area was nice with lots of seating - food and drink are not allowed there though. Room was very spacious, and would have had a nice view of Mt. Fuji if the weather had cooperated for the one night we stayed. The toilet seat lights up and lifts as you enter the room which was the coolest toilet of the trip. We arrived before check in, and the staff held our bags for us and brought to the room once our room was ready. Since it had rained all day and all night, we decided to try the buffet dining room for dinner. The food was hit or miss. There was a variety of Japanese and Western food. It included hot and cold food, manned stations, drink stations, and a dessert table. Some of the desserts (pudding, jelly) were good, and other items disappointing (omurice, pizza). Most of the food was just average though. We wished there were more Japanese options closer to the resort in case of bad weather. The 7-11 nearby was pretty convenient to have. There is also a small shop inside the resort where I bought a coin purse with a Mt. Fuji pattern. The hotel and buffet were pricier than most of the other places we stayed and ate at during our Japan trip.

Pros: * Highway bus to Shinjuku is literally in front of the hotel. * Fujisan facing view is awesome. Make sure you request for the right facing and opt for executive floor where possible. * Refurbished room is modern, clean, and user friendly for all the essential details which sound trivial but are not such as light switches position, air con, bath water temperature, etc. * Complimentary use of onsen in the next building. * Complimentary admission to FujiQ theme park * 7-11 is within walking distance * Free shuttle to major train stations. It is infrequent but extremely important as it will be difficult to go to the stations on foot due to lack of foot paths. (alternatively, you can always cut across the theme park which is a safer route, but bear in mind the opening hours.) Cons: * Staff are courteous and polite in most of the times. However, things might get a bit frustrating when you hit an issue (I had a minor booking error which was hard to explain) due to limited proficiency of English. Having said that, it is not uncommon among local hotels, so I think it is still acceptable. No drama. Just make sure you have your Google Translate ready and you will be fine.

The staff was friendly and helpful. English was offered at times, but unavailable at other times. The room was very large with a spectacular view of Mt Fuji and a partial view of Fujikyu Highland Park. The amenities were as expected. We were located on the Grand Executive Floor, so our room came with complimentary afternoon tea and cake service in the Salon de Thé. It also included premium brand amenities, complimentary bottles of sparkling and still water and entry to Fujikyu Highland Park (all access ride passes were an additional fee). Our stay also included complimentary breakfast buffet which was large and provided both western and Japanese breakfast foods. A discount coupon was included for the dinner buffet which was quite plentiful. Access to the onsen next door and the Fujiyama Museum was also included. The onsen is well worth a visit and provided a much needed rest from our travel. Tattoos are not allowed at this onsen. The location is perfect if you are visiting Fujikyu Highland Park - it is a short walk or the back door of the hotel, through the Ville du Gaspard et Lisa, to the main entrance of the park.

+ We booked a room with a direct view of Mount Fuji. Fantastic view around the end of May. + Room was spacious and the bathroom was new and modern. + Staff was polite and helpful. I see a senior staff have a younger staff to go back and stand on the stairs and bow to see off a guest’s taxi leaving. Very rigid. A typical hospitality demonstrated by the workers in the Japanese service industry. + We ordered the breakfast included package. Well worth it. The cafe was on the second floor with an had a view to the Fuji mountain. Lots of selections for breakfast and very tasty. + The hot spring next door was included. There was also a private passageway for hotel guests to get there. + 10% discount for the Fuji Q theme park tickets for hotel guests. The tickets are available for purchase at the hotel counter. There was also a direct road for the guests to get to the park. Very convenient. + The hotel boasts an impressive grandeur with a beautiful lobby area. * Nitpick. The Japanese restaurant on the first floor was expensive. We eventually picked a restaurant outside the hotel, about 19 minutes walk, for dinner.

Is there a 0 star to choose here? Service is a joke! Coffee cups are in the cabinet WITHOUT even some saucers. When you check in, people in the front desk right away tell yo the prices of their food. I don't think guest will check in here if they have no money to pay. And when you get in the room, which 2 people cannot even fit when you walk from the door to the bed, and on the side they have this tiny chest with hangers on top - the closet! I laughed so hard. Then when you get to the bed, they have this chart on the bed that says, they don't clean the room, bathroom, change the linens, etc. only to refill the stuff that's been used and to take the trash. Then if you're not used to it, you will hit your toes on the steps going to the bathroom. We came from Ritz Carlton in Nikko before coming from this hotel. Before checking in here, we expect to pay if we order some food. Sooooooo rude. It's ridiculous. I don't recommend this to anybody. And yes, only 1 pillow for each 😂
