So fun 🤩 In the beginning you download an app so you can play a game in the first room. The game if I had to compare it is a log similar to Pokémon go where you see animals and collect them. However in Team Lab you can see them on the walls physically and you can shoot arrows at them to catch them and you can see more information on them on your phone. Most of them are endangered species of sorts. We assumed that was it and while it was fun it was pretty so small so to our surprise when we exited we were guided to another room. This one was filled with butterflies 🦋 it’s pretty much a waiting room before you go into my favorite room the ball room. That is, a room filled with balls colorful ones!! You can walk, jump, run, and stand on them. The only thing you can’t do is go backwards the staff doesn’t want you going backwards to the previous exhibition (see end). Next part is a trampoline and it’s little hard to see didn’t like it much but after that you can choose between 3 balancing bridges. I picked the easy one and my boyfriend picked the hard one he ended up falling but it didn’t hurt at all since it is cushioned well. Next is the largest room with the most beautiful installations of flowers we took a rest here! You can sit down and enjoy it from the ground! After that is the mirror tunnel and the balloon/egg room! Also very enjoyable and a nice ending! (End) That is until they ask you to repeat which you can do at no cost at all so fun and I hope this didn’t spoil anything and although this was detailed it’s so different to experience it in real life ~ so...
Read moreI went here with my parents after hearing how awesome the Tokyo venues are. Did not need to buy tickets in advance. The first room allows you to catch and release animals via your phone and an app you need to download. My phone did not work and they loaned me a phone to use. The app was glitchy and has a learning curve. The net (floor catching) was mostly a failure. The arrow (wall catch) took some trial and error to figure it out. (Hint: pull back the arrow and search for an animal; an icon will pop up in the top corner to show you what you will catch if you release your arrow.) The more of an animal you catch, the more you can learn about it. There were forest and sea creatures to catch. My mom got frustrated with this first room and gave up. The idea is great the app is glitchy. I would not recommend the app for kids below about 12 years old unless they are very patient. The rest of the rooms were physically interactive. Things to touch, step on and visuals to interact with all around you. The artwork in all the rooms was gorgeous. Make sure you color an animal and have the staff scan it to add to the digital collection in the last room so you can see it come to life. Some rooms have uneven flooring so take care if you're unsteady...
Read moreVisiting teamLab Forest in Fukuoka was a surreal and unforgettable experience! Unlike any regular museum or art exhibit, this is a fully interactive digital world where you become part of the art. It’s designed to engage all your senses — everywhere you go, the walls, floor, and even the air seem alive with motion, color, and sound.
The exhibit is split into two main zones: the Athletics Forest, which involves more physical movement (think climbing and balancing in glowing, futuristic spaces), and the Forest of Motion, which feels like walking through a living dream. One moment you’re surrounded by butterflies, the next you’re floating through galaxies or watching animals you’ve created walk into the digital forest.
Everything reacts to your movement, so it feels like the art is responding to you. It’s great for all ages — whether you’re looking for Instagram-worthy photos or just want to be amazed. I recommend wearing comfortable clothes and grip-friendly shoes since some areas involve light climbing or uneven floors.
It’s not too long — around 1–2 hours — but totally worth it. Super close to the PayPay Dome and easy to get to. If you’re in Fukuoka, don’t miss this! It’s one of the most unique experiences...
