Nikugato — Restaurant in Fukuoka

I went to this restaurant for two reasons 1) Convenience because we were already at this plaza and 2) No one was dining there and I thought service would be faster for that reason. We got seated at 6pm sharp and did not finish until 8:15pm. This meal lasted 1 hour and 15 minutes longer than it needed to. We ordered hot tea. The first time it took 30 minutes for it to be brought out. The second time when we asked for a refill the server we had said ok then 30 mins passed and still nothing so we had to ask 3 other servers which then finally the 3rd person we asked brought it out 45 minutes later. The place was not busy so why did a simple hot tea take soooo long to be brought out? Lastly, we asked for the bill numerous times letting them know we were needing to hurry and catch the train. They said ok, but never brought our bill out. We asked 4 times before it was finally brought out. Why say ok if you're not going to bring it? We almost missed our train because of the lack of service we received. Food was extremely marked up and tasted very mediocre. Service here was the worst experience for my entire stay in Japan. We tried to be patient and even explained we were in a rush to catch a train hoping they would understand we needed to pay asap and leave. It's like they are on island time and super relaxed because we emphasized why we were needing to rush, but it did not change the results of their actions. Not busy for a rainy mid-day kinda day, expected. Menu looked appealing and I wanted Wagyu. Ordered the Platinum set (wagyu, truffle, uni and ikura). 100% positive I was played or I got the Toughest wagyu in Japan and the truffle had no taste. The uni and ikura were as expected. I even tried it Ochazuke style, nothing helped the beef.

So the food was terrible but the service was good, got my beer in a timely manner and the waiter was friendly.

珍しいお肉にひつまぶしスタイルで最初はそのまま食べて次にわさびやガリで味変！

そして最後にお出汁をかけてひつまぶしスタイルで食べる！

3回楽しめたランチでした。

トッピングで卵黄を乗せましたがコレは超オススメです！！

It’s been a while since I gave a ⭐︎5 rating!!!

Visited for lunch!

The rare cuts of meat served in a hitsumabushi style were amazing—first, enjoy it as is, then change the flavor with wasabi and pickled ginger!

Finally, pour dashi broth over it and savor it hitsumabushi-style!

It was a lunch I could enjoy in three different ways.

I added an egg yolk topping, and I highly recommend it!!

Next time, I’d love to come back in the evening...
