Our stay at Takunomi Yado Yoshimatsu was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with the warm hospitality. The tranquility of the setting, with breathtaking views truly made this a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. We made our reservation through book.com and the pictures on the website did not do this place justice! so much more beautiful in person 😍 The room was spacious, immaculately clean, and authentically styled, with tatami mats and futons that ensured a restful night’s sleep. We especially loved the private open-air onsen, where we could soak in the natural hot spring waters while enjoying the peaceful garden views. It was the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring. One of the highlights was the kaiseki dinner—an absolute culinary masterpiece! Each course was beautifully presented, and the flavors were exquisite, showcasing the freshest local ingredients. The breakfast was equally impressive! I was so full after each meal! The staff at Yoshimatsu were incredibly attentive and kind, going above and beyond to make our stay memorable. They were happy to assist with anything we needed, and their attention to detail was impeccable. If you’re looking for an authentic ryokan experience with exceptional service, stunning views, and a peaceful atmosphere, Takunomi Yado Yoshimatsu is the perfect choice. We can’t wait to return!

This is the most luxurious, relaxing, and welcoming environment I’ve ever experienced in my life. To celebrate our anniversary, we got a corner room with a private onsen and it was 1000% worth the splurge. From the minute we arrived we were greeted with such warm smiles, were given complimentary tea and snacks, and shown to our room. Our room was HUGE and super clean, and we had a clear view of Mt. Fuji! This was such a wonderful experience. The kind woman who tended to us and brought us food and made our beds made this experience so wonderful. We truly felt like royalty and they were so friendly! The food was outstanding. They serve in a style called “kaiseki”, which is basically just a fancy multiple-course Japanese meal. Our dinner consisted of about 14 courses and all were fantastic. Food was delicious and they had such meticulous attention to detail. The beds were super comfy, onsen was SO relaxing, and I cannot stress enough how wonderful the staff are. This was my first ryokan, and they have set the bar extremely high. I will never go anywhere else but here. Thank you for such a wonderful experience <3 (PS: Many of them speak perfect English, so communication was no issue at all!)

A peaceful and relaxing stay. We stayed for 2 nights, which was the perfect length. This was the first ryokan we stayed in. Staff was welcoming and friendly, they made our stay a memorable one! The room was very clean. The garden was beautiful. We booked a room with a private onsen, but there is both a public onsen and a private one that guests can use. The onsen was amazing, our skin has never felt better and our feet are no longer sore from all our walking previously in Tokyo! The Kaiseki Cuisine for breakfast and dinner looked amazing (colorful foods, food beautifully cut into art, unique bowls & plates for every dish) and tasted absolutely delicious (different flavors & textures to enjoy in every dish). If you are planning on staying, I would recommend using luggage shipping service (e.g. Yamato), as the busses in Hakone are pretty small! They provide Yakatas to wear during your stay and sleep. Since we had a 2 night stay in Hakone between Tokyo and Kyoto, we sent our luggage from Tokyo to Kyoto and just packed in our backpacks. Made traveling to and from Hakone easy! Would recommend this ryokan to all. Thank you to all the staff for an unforgettable stay! Arigato gozaimasu!

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our stay at 佳松 was an unforgettable journey into the heart of Japanese hospitality. The moment we entered, we were greeted with impeccable service that set the tone for the entire experience—gracious, attentive, and filled with a quiet elegance that made us feel both welcomed and cared for. The Japanese garden here is nothing short of breathtaking, an oasis of calm with its perfectly manicured greenery and peaceful koi ponds, offering a space for quiet reflection with a view of FuJi mountain in nice weather. The culinary experience was equally exceptional, featuring exquisite kaiseki meals that were a true celebration of seasonal ingredients, each dish a work of art in flavor and presentation. Whether it was the delicate sashimi or the perfectly grilled fish, every bite felt like a journey through the richness of Japanese cuisine. 佳松 is more than just a stay—it’s an immersion into timeless traditions, where every detail is crafted to provide serenity and luxury. The combination of top-tier service, exquisite food, and the beauty of the garden made this an experience we’ll remember for years to come.

We stayed at Yoshimatsu for two nights and it was a wonderful experience, highly recommended!. The place itself is not big and has a very homey feel to it and its layout is unique, the rooms surrouned a lovely Japanese garden with a small waterfall. The facilities as a whole is extremely well kept and clean. The public onsen is for private individual use and is kept really nicely with everything you will need right there. The food was unbelievable - beautiful and tasty (however we are both foodies willing to try anything once). The staff was the nicest and most accommodating staff I, personally, have experienced in a hotel, evey request was met quickly with a smile and every quetion answered. The only downsize we found to the place was his location which is a little further out, but dont let this detour you - they offer a free shattel to and from the bus station/nearest town. Every morning after breakfast we were asked were we wanted to go and when, and as requested the shattel was there to take us. The same when coming back, we just called and within two minuets the shattle was there to pick us up.

I had the pleasure of staying here at this beautiful place for my first Ryokan experience, so I won't presume to be able to judge in comparison to other similar inns, however I can say I was awed by the whole experience. The grounds, to include the beautiful garden and Onsen facilities as well as the traditional rooms, were maintained to an impeccable standard. Service was up to these high standards as well, with special care being taken to introduce newcomers to Ryokans to the facilities. While prices are definetly high, this is definitely justified and includes an overwhelming dining experience as well. Overall, if you can make room in your budget for this beautiful Inn, you certainly will not regret taking the time to stay here.
