My wife and I found the Edion Hiroshima department store, a huge, multi level store (with eight or nine levels I believe) and we ran through it like children! There is an escalator up and down, as it’s a massive department store, but tall and narrow.
They had such cool, interesting things on every floor. I especially loved the Gundam and hobby levels that had thousands of anime and Gundam robot, etc on display. It was overwhelming; there were so much to look at! You could easily spend an hour just looking at all of the display boxes filled with intricate models.
The toy level was very nice as well and we bought paper models from Studio Ghibli. We also checked out the gaming level, as I and our sons are huge PlayStation fans. The top floors held dvd’s and music. Going to the very top was worth it, as there was even a huge Transformers 3D display for taking pictures!
A geeks dream and lots of great photo opportunities! Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area, for a full-on Japanese pop culture experience in the city. It was a little of everything that I love about Japan all...

However, I was quite disappointed that the "DIY" level had been downgraded, and yet the Model level was upgraded with a new air-sealed space for painting. They used to offer a large selection of electronic components (LED's, Transistors, Capacitors, Switches, etc...) in the basement, but now they only have a small little shelf with usage specific parts (maybe for RC or whatever), and the rest of the floor is just a mixture of things they have on the other floors (lighting) and more household tools, like pressure washers. Not useful to me anymore, sadly. I guess they figure that there's not a large enough market for it. Might try to make use of that painting room though, if it's not too...
Read moreThis has to be my #1 favorite store in Hiroshima! It has nearly everything I would want if I had all the money in the world! I got a PS Vita here and plan to get a PS3 and PS5 someday as well!
The TVs and monitors are WAY too overpriced though. That could be more of Japan's standard, rather than EDION's.
Also the iPhone to Android ratio is incredibly lopsided. I was trying to find a case for my Note20 Ultra and all I could find was an entire floor of iPhone cases with one miniature aisle of much older Android...
