Nara, Horyuji Temple Five-storied Pagoda. The pagoda that began to be built in ancient India to worship "Busshari" (the remains of Buddha) is called a pagoda.

The five-storied pagoda is a form of the pagoda. A pagoda in the shape of a tower that has a five-storied roof.

It was founded in 607 AD, the same as "Kondo".

A symbol called "Suien" is attached to the tip of the tower. "Suien" contains a prayer to prevent disasters. This is a picture of the base of "Suien", which has a sickle symbol to mean to blow...

This was the highlight of Hōryū-ji for me! Built in the 6th-8th century, it is the oldest five-story pagoda in Japan. The skillful woodwork and decorations are very well maintained. The site is very popular and on the weekday I visited the were countless school groups, but it was still possible to spend a decent amount of time admiring the clay statues inside. This is the oldest wooden structure in the world that is still standing. It’s amazing to think that people hundreds and hundreds of years ago were looking at this same exact pagoda.
