I stayed for two nights back in October 2024. Amazing experience. The ryokan is in a great state, everything is clean and well maintained. The rooms are gorgeous, in the traditional Japanese style with beautiful tatami flooring, comfortable futons with pretty blankets and cozy furniture that makes you feel like you are living in the heart of Japanese tradition. They serve a very tasty and varied Japanese breakfast with multiple small dishes, grilled fish, tea and miso soup. Perfect to start the day full of energy. There are two public baths that you have to book in advance, a big one and a small one. Both are super clean all the time. There’s nothing like the feeling of taking a dip in the hot spring water after a long day of hiking around the beautiful Izu Peninsula. But the best part about Hinodeya Ryokan is the service. The people there are the kindest and most endearing I met across my 45 days in Japan. They are always available to help you with anything you might need, they make you feel right at home from the second you step foot in the ryokan. They offer you rides to and from the station, they even take you up to the Mt. Omuro cable car station. This is what that famous Japanese hospitality is all about. In short, if you are considering visiting the Izu Peninsula (and you should because it’s gorgeous), you should also consider spending a night or two at Hinodeya. You...
Read moreService: The ryokan is family owned and their service is top notch. They answered all of my questions, and allowed me to leave my luggage before check-in time and after check-out time. Their onsen can be booked privately via the QR code present in the front desk or mini-book (about the inn) present in the room. When I checked out, the dad owner offered to drive and dropped me off at the train station.
Breakfast: You should definitely add this service when you booked in this ryokan. It was really delicious. I love all especially the mochi.
Room: It was really spacious as there was a partition which separates the main room from the foyer. In the main room, you will find the futon, dressers, big wooden table and chairs, balcony, etc. There are two types of bathroom (American and Japanese) and it was just outside the room along with the faucet. (The dad owner explained the location of each room in the ryokan.) The hallway is well-lit.
Location: It's a 15-min walk from the train station and another 15-min walk from the bus stop lined with cherry blossoms tree (bus going to Mt. Omuro). It is also near from the hiking course going to the...
Read moreThis place is amazing, a must stay if you are staying in Ito area. We got twin room, so spacious and gorgeous tatami mats. You can request the owner to pick you up from the Izu Kogen Station on their website. A short walk and drive to the ryokan. They have Yukata available and 2 bath houses you can use. You can reserve you time slot for private bath use using the QR code they give you when you stay. The environment was very homey and relaxing. The staff there are very helpful and will assist with anything you need. Best to use Google translate for communication, but ehy do understand some English. The owner will take you to any attractions nearby, he drove to Izu-Shaboten zoo, next to it was also the lift to take you up the green mountain. We spent 3 hours at zoo and lift experience takes an hour. The best Japanese breakfast they served us each morning. Fresh ingredients from nearby areas. I will stay here again given the chance. Suspension bridge 15 min walk, buddhist temple to min walk, train station 10 min walk away. Best ryokan experience even if your japanese...
