One of the best minshuku experiences I’ve ever had! Everything from the food to the room was perfect. I had high expectations due to the glowing reviews, but they somehow exceeded my expectations even more!!! The food was so good that it exceeded the quality you’d get at restaurants. The hosts are kind and friendly, and their thoughtfulness is evident in all the little things around the house—ear plugs to block out sound, slippers in different sizes (other hotels often only provide one size!!!), hair ties and bobby pins… you get the best of both worlds here—the traditional wooden house minshuku experience with all the modern conveniences you could need and more! Equally amazing was the food. The couple are very talented and make food that would exceed that of the majority of restaurants. They have strong relationships with local fishermen, and are able to procure fish of extremely high quality. They use shinkei-jime and iki-jime methods to process the fish. The couple are also very passionate about fishing and local ingredients and you can taste it in the food they make.
I speak very little Japanese and we were a able to make it work with translation apps on our phone and had a great time. Highly recommended!

Its a bit of a walk from Izu-Kogen station, so if you have a suitcase, get a taxi.
Walking distance to the ocean, peaceful place. Looking forward to coming back.
