I spent 3 nights at the Daienin, my first time staying in a temple, and a unforgettable memory. The morning meditation starts at 5.45 and was beautiful to start the day with. The food, multiple course vegan kaiseki, was tasty and things I never tried before and probably won't find anywhere else. Apparently its very special way of cooking only few are trained. Even though I don't speak Japanese and the monks speak hardly any English, everyone was super nice and welcoming. One of the assistants spoke great English and explained things about food and culture in more detail. This is a very strict temple so be aware that dinner is served strictly at 5:30, bath time is from 4:30 to 8:30 and after that everyone seemed to quiet down in his room. Perfect if you plan like me to give your mind time to quit down. The room in traditional Japanese style was very clean and spacious. I had a great view on the beautiful garden from the second floor. A short walk to all the temples and Okunoin graveyard, it's great place to explore the magic of this place. I could walk over to the graveyard at night and early morning and can't say what was more beautiful. As as the monk that welcomed me gave me little gift and waved me goodbye, I wish I could have stayed longer at...

Read moreI have been looking forward to Koyasan Shukubo for a long time. Only Dayuanyuan has a room when I book three months in advance. The room is on the second floor, clean and spacious, with a faint fragrance of tatami mats, but the toilet and shower are shared. Time, one or two days is acceptable, long time is not enough. Breakfast and dinner are included in the room rate, all vegetarian meals, light and delicious, and full. Dayuanyuan Temple is considered a small temple in Koyasan. There is no night tour Okunoin Temple here. I have to go to Keikoin Temple to make an appointment. I saw the introduction of scripture copying and meditation at the front desk on the Internet, but when I asked, I didn’t know why. Brother Monk is generally not very patient in English. When I checked out, I saw me going down the stairs with a big box and was indifferent... This is much better in Huiguangyuan. Even if I don’t live there, I will ask when I want to make an appointment to visit. help. Strongly recommend Huiguangyuan's night tour Okunoin project, the explanation is great! Full...
