Made a reservation with these people - such a disappointment. When I made a request for the Niseko Ski Lodgethrough Niseko.cc they replied they had vacancy in “Niskeo Ski Lodge – Lamp Inn”, I presumed that would be a place of equal standard to the place described in the Niseko.cc ad with all the facilities stated for the Niseko Ski Lodge. Nowhere was it mentioned that the Lamp Inn is nowhere close to what I presume is the standard of the actual Niskeo Ski Lodge. It feels like this was misleading or even false marketing of a lodge, as the Lamp Inn is more like a seasonaires accommodation – a dirty ex-private house not suited for hostel business.
For instance, nowhere in my booking does it say that I booked a semi-private room. I’m fine with shared room, but I do not appreciate sleeping in the living room (which also is the only room with seating), it got very noisy one night and I have to ask people to be quiet or leave, which makes me feel uncomfortable as that living room is the only social area, but also part of a bedroom where 3 people were trying to sleep whilst others had a small party in the same room.
I also found the place very dirty, the manager even said they don’t clean this place (!), the bathroom/laundry and kitchen in particular are very dirty.
Other complaints: green light from the emergency exit sign is alight all night (in the “bedroom”), no actual toaster (several people didn’t know you could toast bread in the small oven by the stove, and when you do it gets smelly as the frying thing on top is dirty), very cold kitchen and room where skiis and boots is stored – nothing dries, no place to sit and eat/talk if people are sleeping upstairs, not enough tea/coffee cups for everybody, not enough breakfast food for all the people (+10) staying in the house etc.
Overall I’m very disappointed with my stay. I have stayed in many backpackers and hostels around the world and this type of accommodation is ok if it’s reflected on the price and not marketed as a Lodge. It also seemed like most people in the Lamp Inn thought they actually had made reservations for the Niseko Ski Lodge and were surprised and disappointed to find themselves here. I emailed them but got no answer.
Don’t stay here, very overpriced, dirty and...
Read moreStayed in a room with 6 beds. Cas, Antoine, Joe were great hosts doing everything they can to make our stay enjoyable. Amenities were kept clean and neat. Bed, pillows and comforters were fresh and clean. Toilets and showers were well kept and had sufficient hot water all the time. Can get a bit noisy as the flooring is made of wood. I could hear muffled sound from the next room as the walls were thin. However most guests were polite and kept the noise down late at night. Neat kitchen for cooking and groceries are a 10-15 min walk away. Also a 15 min walk to the Hirafu Intersection to catch the bus to Niseko Village, Hanazono or Annupuri lifts. Walking distance of Hirafu lifts. What could improve this is if they could provide free dropoffs to the Hirafu ski lifts or Intersection in...
