FOREIGNERS DON’T TRY THIS RESTURANT Tempura Araki (Niseko)
Our family expected a nice dinner celebrating my sister’s birthday BUT Tempura Araki was just unaccommodating. We were late for 5pm reservation due to snow storm and called at 5:03pm & 5:08pm but in vain. CHEF K Toide picked up at 5:15pm and said if we couldn’t arrive by 5:30pm booking will be cancelled.
Running from Dot Base to there within 10 mins and arrived by 5:30pm at a Resturant next door. Few mins wasted and then the door was locked.
Setsu Hotel staff were very helpful to help reaching Chef K Toide and explained: a snow storm delayed us Runner over -15 degree by 5:30pm 3 kids and an elderly were tired, hungry and waiting That’s birthday celebration all nearby restaurants were full Staff next door plus Hotel staff helped as translators and mediators to convince Tempura Araki to host us BUT WAS REJECTED.
CHEF finally asked us to leave. We asked about prepayment and he said NO refund. After we told him few thai IG influencers coming together again in February, The CHEF said 50% refund. We further told him founders from a major travel APP also our group. We FINALLY got FULL refund in cash immediately… We persuaded, we begged & we argued for 1 hour without food with a CHEF at a restaurant

This omakase restaurant serves all guests at once, so it is important to be timely to your reservation. The chefs are cooking each coarse in front of you and everything is incredibly fresh. The staff was incredibly nice and let us know how to eat each serving. All dishes were presented beautifly, my favorites were the mackerel (so light and delicate), Sticky Rice Dried Sea Cucumber Ovaries (never had anything like this before), tempura rice bowl (ours had shrimp and scallop), the homemade icecream with tempura sweet (perfect desert). We arrived at 5:30pm and finished our meal at 7pm. This...
