Then just relax in any or all of the pools with different temperatures. The steam room is very hot, don't stay too long and shower to remove your sweat before going into the pools again. There is a tank with huge koi fish in the middle wall. As I was there no man came into the woman's area but the lady owner was chatting and looking at the men on the other side. Sakurayu is located near the north-east side of intersection of Kawaramachi Street and Marutamachi Street. This traditional style of public bathhouse ( sento ) was established in 1919. This sento draws exquisite water flowing underground around this area. One of the greatest highlights of this sento is its large aquarium of Koi built right in the center of the bathing hall enabling visitors to enjoy watching while bathing. There is a nice steam sauna equipped in this sento. This sento is beautifully made with all classic style inside out. The bathing hall is fully built with elaborate works of artistic mosaic tiles. Sakurayu is excellent sento in every aspect, style, comfort, space, appearance, water temperature.

Forget Spaworld, this sento (bath house) is the real deal. Nearly 100 years old, it is packed with charm and antiques still in operation. One of the only sento I've been with that has a steam room (ミストサウナ) too. Men and women are separated, but it is run by an elderly couple, so don't be shy. Most likely the wife will be running the show. The baths themselves are cleanly and the age of the house shows in the tiles, in a good way. They are unique and beautiful.
