Being completely honest, Nagano has a special place in my heart when visiting Japan. Only for a day trip visiting, it was one of my most memorable places as the people of Nagano were very welcoming, the Nakamise street had many shops and food to either get great souvenirs and or tasting experiences as the sake tasting we had at one of the stores (forgot the name but was closer to the temple at the top of the hill), may I add one of the workers spoke great English as that was a subject they were studying in university. Read moreThis is a busy market street with a great selection of traditional and tourist focused shops. It is worth visiting as you walk towards the temple in Nagano. However, plan to arrive after 10:30am as all the side streat vendors are closed until that time. Also, be aware that there are very limited options for meatlovers in this whole street.
