Ukimido Pavillion was a lovely area to have a brief visit to while wandering around Nara. It is much quieter and more peaceful than most areas in the city, and you really get the opportunity to see the deer wandering around rather than simply pestering you for food. The area around is absolutely stunning - we visited on a rainy day and it still could not hold back the beauty of the place. The landscaping makes the area very interesting, with rivers and waterfalls not far from the pavillion.
