Pretty good kushikatsu with a fun, family friendly atmosphere, but with lots of annoying extra charges. First of all, the katsu was very good. They were all freshly fried to crispy, fluffy perfection. The sauce was pretty sweet (most people prefer a little more vinegar in their kushikatsu sauce), but still ok. The sides were good, too. The do-it-yourself potato salad was a fun concept, and the yukke was tasty. The restaurant has a lot of free bonuses for kids and groups, so it would be fun to bring a family here. There's a drinking dice game for adults, too, so that looked fun. The only complaint I have is the unavoidable and annoying extra fees. First, they serve you a small bowl of about 10 edamame and the equivalent of 1 torn up cabbage leaf at the start without giving the option to opt out and charge you almost 700 yen for it. Then, you're required to order at least one drink per person, and of course the drinks are all overpriced. We ended up paying almost 400 yen each for a glass of apple juice and a bottle of cheap ramune. If you're going with a large group or as a family, this place would be pretty good, considering the bonuses and the food quality. If it's only a couple of you, though, be prepared to pay...
Read moreGreat dining experience overall. Staff did not have any English but we worked together with our phones and pointing at the menu. They did have a few English menus, but still pointing, which was easy enough. Lots of great meats and vegetable options and you can't go wrong with breading it on a stick!
We had a misunderstanding on the dessert order(probably on our side), but what we received was just as good.
Sauces are great. Only comment was that the breading was a little plain, as was the edamame and cabbage appetizers - would be nice if they were seasoned with a little of something. The plain breading was still nice because it allowed the flavor of the meat or vegetables through, but it would have been good to have a little more flavor in the breading...
