I was pleased by the variety here for a museum of a small city and prefecture like Saga. This museum had a lot of interesting exhibits showing artifacts and the cultural history of Saga as well as a selection of quite good paintings by Saga-based artists both in Western styles and in traditional Japanese styles. Most exhibits are only in Japanese but that’s not a big deal. Definitely worth a visit.

Architecture by Teiichi Takahashi and Yoshichika Uchida.

I was pleased by the variety here for a museum of a small city and prefecture like Saga. This museum had a lot of interesting exhibits showing artifacts and the cultural history of Saga as well as a selection of quite good paintings by Saga-based artists both in Western styles and in traditional Japanese styles. This was a really fun couple hours in the heart of Saga city. The museum details Saga Prefecture’s long history and its people. It was nice strolling leisurely around the exhibits. I really enjoyed learning about the first people to come to Saga and I especially liked the information on the Meiji period. I do wish there was more information translated to English or other languages as only some pieces were translated. This is a great spot to relax and escape from...
