Located inside the Dex Tokyo Beach shopping mall in Odaiba, Animeal is a charming café perfect for animal lovers. The space is filled with friendly cats and dogs, plus some more exotic residents like meerkats, rabbits, birds, and even a capybara!
We arrived around 2:30 PM and got in after a short wait. Entry tickets are required for both adults and kids, and include a drink. You can also purchase animal food, which is highly recommended—most of the animals, especially the dogs and cats, are far more interactive when you have treats!
Be aware that at 3 PM, the section with the capybara closes for an hour, and they bring out the nocturnal animals during this break. So if you’re hoping to see the capybara, try to time your visit accordingly—we only got about 5 minutes with it.
Reservations aren’t available online, so walk-ins are the only option. It’s well worth visiting on a weekday or coming early, as weekends can get crowded.
The café itself is clean, well-organized, and very kid-friendly. Our kids had good time, and we’d recommend it for families looking for a fun animal...

Ducks left roaming around visibly scared while people try to avoid stepping on them with how busy it is
Some of the dogs here were stressed and just trying to find a quiet place to sleep but are forced to be surrounded by heaps of people and noise for hours
Animals are not here for your entertainment. Please go elsewhere and do your research before going to any animal place in Japan. Many do not take proper care of their animals and are...
