i was super stressed out as i saw a lot of crappy reviews for this hotel so frankly i wasn't expecting much. "ac issues, old, dirty" - the list goes on.||HOWEVER i was pleasantly surprised by my stay here. the room was extremely spacious -- we did book a larger room whereas our friend had a much cozier twin room with a fabulous view, it really depends on what you book. ||with regards to cleanliness, we faced no issues. bed linen, towels and pajamas provided were all clean, and room cleaning was done immaculately each day.||with regards to ac, we were initially upset as the room wasn't getting colder. turns out it wasn't automatic and we simply didn't click the switchboard by our bedside, where you could adjust lighting, ac, radio etc. ||with regards to dated design, this hotel definitely has an old school aesthetic, so that part is true. if that isn't your vibe, don't book it. pictures online are exactly what they appear to be irl. ||this hotel is in the sumo district, so they do serve a mixture of (weak) continental breakfast as well as japanese breakfast, including chankonabe, which is a hearty stew eaten by sumo wrestlers. its very tasty and unique -- must try. ||location wise it's fabulous honestly -- the food street by Ryogoku station is just a 6 min walk away, its so near Akihabara and the Tsukiji fish market by subway as well, but in a nice quiet neighborhood. you are also sureounded by combinis (convenience stores). unfortunately this hotel doesn't provide laundry services, but there are plenty of laundromats in the area.
