Clean and cozy! They having two train stations nearby that get you anywhere within 30 minutes. Quieter more local area which is also worth exploring as it has loads of nice sushi, ramen and soba bars nearby but not so busy with tourists. Local shops nearby. Lovely smoking area and eating/ working space. There are lockers for small items inside of the bedrooms, not for big backpacks. Staff speak English. I didn’t use it but there’s a sauna on the ground floor. Big kitchen space. Nice environment. There’s lots of places for you to hang your stuff to dry, such a plus! Bedrooms with 10 beds have one shower and one toilet in the room but 3 sinks which is handy. They provide shampoo, conditioner and shower gel which are of great quality (I want to buy some of that brand!). Not a social place, for some reason. Travellers and locals just don’t want to hang out. Very little toilets in the building. It wasn’t a big issue but one shower for 10 people is not a lot and one toilet in the bedroom and one in the corridor to share with other rooms. That’s not enough and a bit stressful if you need to take your time. It was still easy to manage though. Staff comes into the bedroom at 10am to hoover. That’s way too early considering the check in time is so late and you might need to have a lie in after a...
Read moreI highly recommend it.
I’ve traveled to more than 10 countries, and this is the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in.
The value for money is unbeatable in Tokyo. The hostel offers all the necessary facilities for a pleasant stay (fully equipped kitchen, Japanese-style dining room, luggage room, etc.).
For those who prefer a quiet and clean neighborhood, Ryōgoku is the perfect choice, while still having all the shops needed for daily life and cultural venues such as the sumo stadiums. I even got to take part in local festivals nearby!
On top of that, Ryōgoku is close to major tourist areas such as Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Akihabara, and is served by two train stations, which makes transportation convenient and affordable.
But for me, the greatest strength of COGO is its staff —young, energetic, kind, and dedicated—who make your stay nothing but enjoyable!
Without a doubt, I will return whenever I’m in...
Read moreThe room was nice and I liked that they have a more traditional looking common room and kitchen. The first issue was that the window in our room wasn't sealed properly, causing a lot of traffic noise to leak in and loud whining noises whenever the wind was blowing. It also became a bit cold overnight. I tried to raise this issue to the receptionist, but he simply said "Ok, so how can I help you?", and did nothing about it. I was also a bit disappointed with what the kitchen offered. They had a tray with random things previous guests had left, and that was the "free for all guests" food. But unlike the other hostels, they didn't have tea for the guests (only coffee). Only when I asked about it, they dug something out from one of their fridges, and we could make some tea using their common kettles.
To summarise; for a bit more pricey room, the...
