A serene temple complex offering a peaceful retreat from Tokyo's bustling city life.

The expansive grounds feature impressive structures, including a five story pagoda built in 1608, recognized as the oldest in Tokyo.

You can explore various cultural properties and enjoy panoramic views from the hilltop location.

During cherry blossom season, the temple becomes particularly picturesque, with the pagoda framed by delicate pink blooms.

Easily accessible from nearby train stations, it's a worthwhile visit for those interested in Japanese history, architecture and tranquil...

The "reihoden" ( 霊宝殿) hall displays many historical relics, art and objects every given Sunday. Next there is a nice Cafe with outdoor seating and the atmosphere is great. Wonderful place to come alone in contemplation or study, recommended for an impressive first date. A stroll in the gardens between the historic votive stones, a visit to the exhibition with a rest at the open cafeteria, grand finale at some of the nice restaurants along the shopping street at the foot of the temple will ensure you'll have a memorable date, either with someone you care for or even...

Ikegami Honmon-ji is a Nichiren Shu temple and is the place where the famous priest Nichiren died and was cremated. There is a beautiful red stupa that marks the site of his cremation. Ikegami Honmon-ji is a beautiful temple and has a serene atmosphere. I have had the pleasure of going there twice. One can enter the room where Nichiren passed away. You can pay your respects to Nichiren there. If you are interested in Buddhism or not, this temple is a must see just for its beauty...
