JAL Safety Promotion Center — Attraction in Tokyo

We visited this centre on a weekday morning for the JAL Sky museum tour. This area has a series of classrooms with labels "aviation school" and there are interactive videos in the museum on the steps the pilot and attendants take to ensure a safe and comfortable flight for all. Almost all the displays and information boards have English and Japanese text. I liked how very clean and organized it is here, with staff around to help guide us. 日本航空JAL123便事故に関する物が詳しく展示されています。予約は必要で入館するには入館証が必須になります。館内は写真撮影禁止です。今回、予約をして初めて見学をしたのですが、 見学者の内訳はJALの関係者や企業の研修が半数、 一般の方の見学者が3割となっていました。 御巣鷹山事故の墜落に至った経緯を日本航空の社員の方から詳しく説明して下さいました。事故当該機の圧力隔壁と尾翼部分が展示されております。 やはり事故機の原型を留めていない座席や 乗客や客室乗務員の方々の直筆の遺書は 見てて辛くなりました。 今後、このような事は絶対に起こしてはならないと 身に染みました。 一度は見学するべき場所です。

今日、日本航空安全啓発センターを見学してきました。 この施設について私が説明するより調べて頂いたほうがよほど確実だと思うんですが、要は日本航空が当事者となった過去の航空事故を風化させない為に当事者にしか出来ない視点で事故を「展示」する施設です。ご存知かと思いますが、日本航空は1985年に航空史史上最大の事故を起こしました。この事故の当該機JA8119機のバラバラになった圧力隔壁、粉砕されずに残った垂直尾翼の一部、墜落の衝撃でひしゃげてグシャグシャになった座席、墜落の時刻を刻んだまま止まった乗客の腕時計他遺品の数々がセンチメンタルになることなく客観的な事実、歴史として展示されていました。ある意味、客観的過ぎて言葉がでずあんぐりというか何というか‥ 見学は、ツアー形式で日本航空の社員が解説と案内をしてくれて約一時間半の行程です。 この日案内してくださったのは1982年の羽田沖墜落事故当時から現場で活躍されていたという社員の方で、今では123便の事故を知る社員は社員の１%の人数しかいらっしゃらないそうで、その数少ない社員の方がお話になる事故当時の現場の話、安全に対する思いに迫力と切なさを感じました。特に、123便は当日座席のキャンセルが多く発生して、キャンセル待ちの多くのお客様を当時羽田空港の出発カウンターでご案内したその後、事故の一報で自身がどれほど辛い気持ちに陥ったか等。 何とも言えない気持ちになりました。 ツアーの最後の方、10分位ですが自由時間があって展示物を自由に見て回れるんですが、私がずっと見ていたのは乗客の方が墜落の前、絶望の中で必死に認めた数々の遺書の展示。知識としてはありましたが実際、展示されている現物を目にして自然と手を合わせました‥ かように重たーい施設でありまして、ひょいと気軽に訪れるような施設ではありませんが興...
