First things first: The baths are quite good, excellent chemistry and good temperature. They also have arrangements of cold, bubbling, laying, and a stadium bath with a large screen TV (it was playing a soap opera, all the men were watching, fixated on the drama). I was especially impressed by the quality of the natural spring water bath, it had a very penetrating feeling on the skin and I felt a wave of soothing calm wash over me each time I entered. This spring water isn't dark brown in color like some of the other natural springs in the area, instead it was only lightly tinted. It leaves a slight stain on the bottom of the bath, but that is expected for water drawn from deep carbonaceous sediments under Tokyo Bay. As for springs in the Kanto region, I would have to say that this was the very best quality spring water I've experienced around here, and well worth a visit for those who are natural onsen enthusiasts.
The washing stations are well-outfitted, good taps, temperature control, pressure, decent shampoo, conditioner, and soap, and you can get toothbrushes and razors at the entry where you pick up your towels and house clothes. The only issue is that they are a tad close to one another, and it can get a bit crowded. The lockers are also a bit crowded, but they are nice and come with nice hangers for clothes. At first I worried that my backpack would not fit into the locker, but I managed to get it in there without much struggle.
It is a somewhat pricey onsen for a single visit, I paid 2000 yen for myself and 1000 yen for my boy to enter. We ate at the restaurant between bathing rounds, and it was also a bit pricey, although the food and drink was pretty good. At the end I paid about 9000 yen for the full visit, which is getting up there, although I did have some of the higher end drink (such as a nice daiginjyo sake) and food (sashimi) at the restaurant. It was a very memorable father and son outing for both of us.
I noticed on their website that they sell multiple use tickets (10) for a much lower price per visit, but they have to be used in a 6 month period. I'm tempted to buy a pack of these for myself, and go back again often to sooth my aches and pains away in that excellent spring water. They also have a large massage and relaxation area, which I did not use this time around...maybe next time.
Access is not bad from particular locations, such as Oomori JR and Keikyu Heiwajima stations. I hear they have a Haneda shuttle as well, perfect for those with a long enough layover. The shuttles to BIGFUN were 100 yen each way (cash only, no suica), but the Onsen gave us vouchers for the...
Read moreMy flight was 0830hrs on Nov 4, 2022. Haneda's capsule hotels were sold out. I don't plan to spend a bomb for just a few hours of sleep.
I arrived at Heiwajima Hotspring on Nov 3, 2022 20:46 hrs to rest. Short of sleeping at the airport, spending overnight at Heiwajima was the BEST ever decision, provided you are an onsen person & have the ability to fall asleep easily. And it's much safer sleeping here than the airport.
*Location: In a large entertainment building, BIGFUN. *Nearest train: Heiwajima Stn, Keikyu Line (direct to Haneda), 15 mins walk. JR Omori Stn - too far to walk. *Free Shuttle: Available to Heiwajima Station (Keikyu Line), but the timings didn't work out for me. Starts at 0730hrs. Ends 2300hrs. *Lockers for suitcases: Available even for large ones, refundable when u leave the hotspring. *Free Wifi: Yes, very stable. *Resting Lounge: Available. Free. Gender segregated. Flat beds are available, first-come first-served basis. Lights out at 12midnight. *Towels & Yukata: All provided. *Cleanliness: Very high *Hot Springs: Very wide selection. Love the high carbonated bath. Made the skin so soft. *Food & Beverage: The restaurant was closed with I arrived but you can get drinks from the in-house vending machines. *Tattoos: Not permitted. This is a HUGE safety point for me because tattoos in Japan is associated with yakuza. *Service: Excellent. While English is limited, they try to have a few English speaking staff in the team. The website is multi-lingual as well. *Pricing: Paid JPY3,800 nett. Expensive if you are using it purely as a hotspring. Reasonable if the onsen helps you to get a few hours of good sleep before catching an early morning flight.
What you NEED to bring if catching sleep is paramount: Eye mask (if u want a full black-out experience) Ear plugs (if u are sensitive to noise) Clean Socks ( For walking around + To keep your feet warm, while sleeping) Moisturiser (i am REALLY surprise it's not provided) Water bottle (there is water cooler in the gender-segregated hotspring locker) room). Your phone charger (to charge it and put it on vibration mode to wake u up for your flight).
My only regret ? Not arriving earlier to vegetate and spend more time at...
Read moreTLDR: Tattoos ok up to 4 small-ish pieces. Large tattoos (like sleeves or full body) are not ok.
Full run-down: I couldn't go in b/c of my tattoos - I have 2 medium pieces and a few smaller pieces (over 4 tattoos). I wanted to warn anyone with large tattoos or more than 4 tattoo pieces that they will probably get turned away.
I originally read reviews saying tattoos are ok, so I went b/c this place sounded and looks great! AND it's 24 hours, which was perfect for a mid-day soak! When I got there, I spoke with an employee about my tattoos and, unfortunately, was turned away.
Perhaps they changed the rules, or perhaps the person posting only had 1-4 small tattoos, but when I went (April, 2025), the rules stated: Tattoos must be covered with PURCHASED covers (so it sounds like you can only use the covers they provide).
Some things to note if you're planning to visit: -They only provide 4 covers (max) - you have to pay for them -You can use those covers however you need (ex. If you have 1 large piece, you can use all 4 to cover said piece). Otherwise, use them on the individual tattoo and only buy however many you need (again, only 4 max) -The covers looked to be a decent size. Maybe about 3 inches by 5 inches (just my rough estimate - don't quote me on that. I couldn't measure them myself)
In summary, if you have tattoos, I recommend finding a private onsen or calling ahead (if you know Japanese or have a translator). I know it's more expensive but you can enjoy and relax without the worry of having to cover up or getting...
