The cute pictures you see are misleading, as the dogs are trained for them and get treats. Most of the dogs in the café are huddled up in corners, moving away from humans. They move away instantly once they get the treat. Please do not make the same mistake as me and support Animal Welfare by NOT going to Animal Café’s! Even the ones with high ratings like this one!
I went and visited today and left after 10 minutes even though I paid for 1 hour. In another 1 star review the owner responds saying the dogs do get let out on walks etc and have ‘shifts’ of about 3 hours after which they have a 1 hr break etc and I would like to respond to that answer with this review. No matter if the dogs get walks and get ‘breaks’ it is not enough as they seem VERY overstimulated and agitated and simply do NOT want to get pet or even get attention from humans, whether you are good/experienced with animals or not.
No matter what the owner says, the reactions and behavior of the dogs tell another story.
There are way too many people let in every shift for the amount of dogs and the dogs do not have an outdoor space in the cafe, nor do they have the right amount of space to get away from all the customers. You will see the dogs either lying in corners, standing up to move away whenever people start petting them or they are walking around looking for food from customers or staff. With a lot of customers luring them with food and then not giving them any as you only get 3 pieces of kibble upon entering the café. I felt terrible afterwards for supporting by paying for entering.
Dogs are naturally very sociable and friendly creatures and when you see them overstimulated like this it all points toward them not being in a situation that is suitable for them(no matter how many breaks or walks the owners says they get, behavior does not lie). As a dog owner you will INSTANTLY feel bad if you visit this place. I visited because I thought they must get cared for in the right way and have enough space because of the 4.9 rating and am saddened this is not the case. Other people that visited the café at the same time I did shared the same sentiment upon seeing the dogs.
Please do not make the same mistake as me and support Animal Welfare by not going to Animal Café’s! No matter how high the rating is! I was planning on going to a high rated cat café and will not be going after this experience. As an animal lover, this just truly...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I visited Japan for two weeks and since we also have a Samoyed of ourselves at home(Norway) we thought it would be interesting to experience the Samoyed cafe.
First of all, the staff were very friendly, welcoming and nice. All of the communication was understandable in Japanese but a bit unfortunate for us (tourists in general). Nonetheless, the staff used google translate when we asked questions which worked fine.
Unfortunately, visiting and supporting the Muffu cafe is something I strongly advise against. This is of course due to the animal welfare. Samoyeds are a breed that is bred to be doing lots of outdoor activities. It’s not a breed you keep in a small room inside with approximately 10 dogs gathered. However, I understand that there are cultural differences(including climate). But I was very worries and upset when I saw the dogs. As far as we saw, they had no access to water inside, and were “trained” to pee and poop on a mat. That is very sad. And accidents(peeing in the floor ) happened several times during that one hour we were there. The staff should make sure to pay attention to the dogs needing to go potty, especially as this is again “humiliating” for the dog (taking into considering the age of the dogs as there were some poppies there). Having access to water when they do this all day is also a necessity.
Moreover, the dogs were not interested in the people coming at all. They were only interested in the staff carrying goodies (but the trust between the staff and the dogs was very good). We were there at 12:00 and the dogs were exhausted already. I can’t imagine having the dogs doing this every day for 9 hours. I asked whether they get a break, and they said that the dogs gets a break once an hour (but they did not provide any more information beyond that). I also believe they rotate the dogs. Nonetheless, it seemed like the dogs were over stimulated and therefore annoyed and “attacked” each other.
The pricing itself was a bit expensive comparing to other activities we did, but we only hope the money goes to the dog’s wellbeing.
Again, for me, as an owner of a Samoyed dog, this was an unpleasant experience which I do...

I left the comments on the day I left the store, and even returned to the store on the 2nd day to respond in person.
As a result, the store manager didn't intend to deal with it at all. He also asked why I didn't returned the store on the next day, why didn’t the response come the next day but 2 days later? What a selfish thoughts?
Manager even keep encouraged me to leave comment, by his word, "We have a lot of good comments, it doesn't matter, keep leaving this comment. "
He apparently didn't give a shxt about the problem.
Don’t reply to official answers like this, pretend like you care, it's really pathetic.
And I also didn't mentioned that the prices for reservations and on-site are completely different, if you didn't reservation, on weekdays it will be a holiday price, even more, like the price I said.
The store clerk won't tell you this situation, they just want deceiving tourists, buffaloed customers is the worst thing you can do as a store owner.
Those good comments obviously without any reference value, it is simply misleading. ——————————————————
It's really bad experience for here.
Firstable the staff didn't give me the dogs oyatsu initiative, and when you go in, the dog won't came from you, they just lying down or following staff because they have food.
I'm alone and for I hour during, I just sit there watch the dog hanging with someone else, the staff doesn't pay attention to the single customer unless you pay more money to buy the food or service.
And the dog state wasn't good, they are urining one by one, and I also saw one dog is vomit, the another dog are eating its vomit, it's terrible.
Also there was a locked up dog that kept barking for like 40 minutes, staff doesn't care much.
The web photo seems good but the fact isn't true, the experience was so bad that I...
