I went to the nearby local history museum on a rainy Saturday and read about the Daikan Yashiki and the area in the exhibits upstairs. I wanted to check it out for real and walked in. I was greeted by a really cool guide grandpa and a nice lady as I entered the building. The vibe was very peaceful and quiet. The cool guide grandpa lead me around and explained all of the rooms and a bit of the history to me. He spoke really amazing English even though we spoke in Japanese 99 percent of the time. He was worried about it not being efficient enough but he did amazingly. Any other English speakers would definitely have a pleasant experience because of him. I really enjoyed my visit here and I especially appreciate the effort he put in to help me understand the building. Definitely a must see for residents of Setagaya and anyone interested in the last standing building...
Read moreI recently attended a firefly festival. Unfortunately, despite standing in line for about 40 minutes in the heat to get inside, I didn’t see any fireflies. Everyone was very disappointed, especially the children who also waited in line. The festival itself was small, but the atmosphere was pleasant. The food was also relatively cheap and...
