The Yayoi Campus of the University of Tokyo is a quiet, green space with deep historical roots. Once part of the Mito Domain during the Edo period, it later hosted the First Higher School before becoming the home of the Faculty of Agriculture in 1935. The campus name comes from nearby Yayoi-chō, where pottery defining the Yayoi Period was first found.

Today, it blends history and modern research. Landmarks include the Nōsei Gate, pre-war buildings, the Agricultural Museum, and the statue of Professor Ueno with Hachikō. Modern additions like the Yayoi Auditorium highlight sustainable wooden design. It also houses the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences and the Earthquake Research Institute.

Compared to the bustling Hongo Campus, Yayoi is more serene, with ginkgo-lined paths, shaded courtyards, and easy access via Todaimae Station. A pedestrian bridge, “Namida-bashi,” links it to Hongo, making Yayoi a peaceful yet historically rich corner of...

Les touristes sont "tolérés" sur le campus. L'architecture est superbe, c'est différent pour chaque bâtiment et l'on y retrouve la statue de Hachiko et son maître, Hidesaburo Ueno.
