Great experience. Failed to get 2F lottery ticket, so went to 3F observation deck at 5am (auction around 4.45am-5.30am). 🔊Speaker available at 3F to listen to the on going auction. 🚹Free guides also available helping to expain what auctioneer & buyer is doing on the floor. Noticed that they turn-off the speaker & visitor at 2F must leave the area when they start the final batch of tuna auction (mostly bigger size, maybe higher quality). I'm guessing that might be trade secret, so they dont let us listen to the final price that they got it 🤷♂️. 📥If u are into stamp collecting, there are 3 location for stamps. 🍣Omakase at nearby restaurant, price ¥88,000 to over ¥150,000up. Depends what seafood u want & how many pieces. 🍱Fresh seafood-don (rice bowl) also available price around ¥1,500up.

For all the hype drawing people to this place, it certainly puts a fishy taste in your mouth when you leave. When you finally make it out to the fabled fish market, where fish are bought and sold in quantities unrivaled, there are a couple of shops and a small window where you can view a sliver of the action from far away. That's right, you don't even have access to the actual fish market at all! Only the surrounding sushi restaurants and some fish accessory stores (like knife shops and produce). Terrible feeling when you spend an hour venturing all the way to the world reknown fish market and they slap a visitor tag around your neck and tell you you can't go to the market itself, viewing it only through a slit pictured below. Meanwhile "professionals" are allowed to go in, with all their tourist bags and luggage because they are Japanese and just say they are there on official business. Pretty racist in my opinion, that they would so easily allow Japanese folks in, but automatically reject all western tourists at sight. Edit: We passed 3 gaurds: one making sure we took the visitors pass, one to check your tag once you were in, and one gaurd who allows Japanese people to take their visitor tags off and proceed to the fish market as "professionals".

It's amazing how they built this facility. There are covered walkways that lead you to different sections of the market. It's a different experience than the Tsukiji Fish market we visited before. I like the experience before because you get to be up close with the vendors and walk in to the dining places offering sushi. But for this one you will be able to see through the observation deck, the shops are well organized and big. The food are pricier than before though but people still come here to experience the fresh catch. There are mini museums showcasing info about the market during the Edo era and the different types of fish and seafood. You get to see how the fruits and goods are being sorted and transported to the respective buyers like sellers and supermarkets to the consumers.

We were there before 530am and there was already tons of people jostling for best viewing windows at the observation deck for tuna auction. You may participate in lottery for lower level viewing but it is offered 2 months ahead with very limited numbers. So virtually impossible. Tuna auction is fast and furious once the starting bell rang at 543am. 4 lots are being sold simultaneously with the biggest fish stocked closest to the viewing area. You can't really hear much from the speakers but can see clearly if at middle of the second floor viewing deck. Wonderful experience needless to say. While it is more industrial and less personal than the old tsukiji market, toyosu market made it more accessible to all.

Hmmm we got there at 5 am and still lined up for 4 hours for sushi, it was good but not mind blowing good. It would only happen once in my life. Not again thanks. Unless you are going at 4 am/ doesn't mind going to those sushi shops that are not famous, otherwise you would probably need to line up for food. It is still worth going tho just be prepared. And the best thing is you don't need to think of what to eat because the only menu is Omakase which is a set menu setting by the chef. But all the staff were really nice and somehow know all the languages, okay maybe most of them, they know different languages to explain how to eat the fish and all the names of the fish. It was still a great experience

Wow 🤩 This place is out of this world I got at see behind the scenes and it was amazing. It is just pandemonium. There is so much movement of fresh, frozen, and live fish 🐟 There is so much money involved in the trade of fish. This is a world market place serving Canada China and Japan. There is every type of fish found here There is a small public market above the wholesalers area. The auction area is crazy at 3 am. Bring rubber boots if you're visiting a wholesaler Clean and well kept held to high standards by health inspectors The live fish area, the tuna auction, fresh fish area and shrimp area are as big as a city. Simple an amazing place must see.
