InterContinental Almaty by IHG — Attraction in Almaty

This hotel is a fraud. They are very mean to tourists. Me and my colleagues were staying in this hotel and 2 of my colleagues went to the bar to have drinks and they paid in cash then and there and the female staff also took their signature on the receipt. Later after my colleague left the room, the housekeeping staff trashed the other receipt of the bar (don’t know intentionally or unintentionally). While checking out the other blonde receptionist didn’t let my teammates checkout and said that they need to pay again as she was told that the bill was not settled. My colleagues asked her to cal that girl in the bar and ask her but she was not on shift. They then asked her for CCTV footage but they started giving excuses. This hotel is a fraud. We were getting late for our flight and didn’t have that much of time to argue and my colleague had to pay TWICE. But till now we have not received the REFUND or CCTV footage. This hotel is such a FRAUD. They charge twice and then act like they don’t understand English anymore. This is how they treat their guests. I need CCTV footage and the REFUND!! I would like to highlight a very special team member, Ms. Bota, who made my stay unforgettable. From the very first day, she went above and beyond to ensure every aspect of my visit was perfect. Her warm demeanor, proactive attitude, and genuine willingness to assist were unparalleled. She curated a personalized itinerary for my day trip, arranged a private tour at the last minute, and consistently checked in to ensure everything was seamless.

One incident truly showcased her dedication to guest satisfaction. On my second day, I accidentally left my phone in a local taxi and thought there was no way to recover it. When I mentioned this to Ms. Bota, she immediately took action. She coordinated with her team, reviewed the hotel’s CCTV footage to track the taxi details, and contacted the driver. To my amazement, she arranged for the driver to return my phone to the hotel in no time! This level of care and efficiency is something I have never experienced, even at the many 5-star properties I’ve stayed in around the world.

Ms. Bota and the entire team at InterContinental Almaty embody the true spirit of hospitality. Their service felt more like a 7-star experience—one that I will cherish forever.
