Another reminder of the perils of life in the times before the rule of law and international normalcy. An interesting ruin where you can take your own lantern through the darkened stairwells of the remains. Set in a beautiful area for a walk, within the defensive perimeter the self guided tour offers peace and quiet. Inside the castle the audio visual presentation is underdone but the rest makes up for that. The attached house with museum is also a nice visit with an amazing sunroom to see and feel.

The castle site is large and has nice grounds. You can explore parts of the ruins. The West Tower is accessed by a narrow dark stone staircase. You are given a lighted candle to help you. It is not for the visually or mobility challenged. If you reach the tower top, you can watch a film about the castles history. Throughout the castle, there are staff dressed in Medieval clothing, they demonstrate a variety of trades. A good place to visit.

Great park to visit when you are in Cesis. Don't miss on visiting it. If you are in Cesis with family, friends or on your own you will have great time in park. There is a lot to see and a lot to relax. Made ideal for relaxation or for nice walk around it. If you are there with your partner then you will have lovely walk in park guaranteed, especially in the evening when its dark and park light are on.

Very beautiful place to have a walk. Enough benches around to rest your feet. Little pond in the middle of park with a water fountain statue. In summer time there is a working catamaran "Karlis". Has a big stage with medieval castle on the background. Very popular place for different type of events. Must visit place if you're on Cesis.

The castle was very interesting to visit! For the price of 8 euros for adult and 4.50 euros for student, we were able to visit the museum (they have information sheets in several languages), several small workshop, the caslte and the main tower with a lanyern. The caslte was in restoration, but it was still worth it!

Who doesn't love an old school castle. Yes, the health and safety of one lantern between two as you try to go up some narrow stairs on one of the towers (hmm, go figure, but it does match the dark humour of the Latvians. Maybe just enjoy yourself messing around with some swords...
