Situated in the Lebanese city of Byblos, the magnificent Saint John Mark's Basilica is a Romanesque cathedral that is devoted to Saint John Mark - the patron saint of the city of Byblos and the pioneer of the initial Christian community there. Originally named the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, it was constructed by the Crusaders in 1115. Despite enduring various natural disasters such as earthquakes, which led to its collapse, the church was renovated by the Lebanese Maronite Order in 1764 after the donation of Yusuf al-Shihabi. Following the restoration, it reopened in 1776. Despite undergoing damage during the Levantine Crisis of 1840 due to bombings, the church was repaired and is now open to visitors. You should never miss the opportunity to visit this peaceful and serene atmosphere that encourages visitors to meditate and connect with their faith.

Saint John Marc Cathedral is a beautiful and historic church in the heart of Jbeil. Built by the Crusaders in 1115 AD, this Romanesque church is dedicated to Saint John Mark, the patron saint of the town. The architecture is stunning, with its ancient stone walls and serene atmosphere making it a perfect spot for reflection and admiration. The cathedral is well preserved and offers a peaceful escape from the bustling souk nearby. The interior is just as impressive, with beautiful stained glass windows and intricate details that tell the story of its rich history. The surrounding gardens add to the charm, providing a lovely place to sit and enjoy the tranquility.

This is an absolutely gorgeous church in historical with Louis Lebanon. I have been here several times in visiting the market, and it is also close to the beautiful outdoor free garden. You should visit all three! The church is holy and quiet and peaceful. We met father Joseph who is a gentle, humble and kind man. We are thankful for the marinate press and see your camera and the chance to freely worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in this place. May God be praised :-)
