I make it a point to have lunch in Byblos at least once during every trip to Lebanon, and I always choose a restaurant overlooking the port. Byblos is my favorite spot in Lebanon, and I’ve noticed the souk has improved a lot over the years. During my most recent visit, we had lunch at Bab el Mina, where we got a table on the terrace with a direct view of the port, a definite highlight.
We ordered fresh fish (both grilled and fried), along with some seafood dishes and traditional Lebanese mezze like hummus and salads. The fish was undeniably fresh, and everything tasted excellent. My only complaint is that the portion sizes for mezze seem to have decreased over time, maybe that’s a new trend in Lebanon.
Overall, I had a wonderful experience. The owner personally welcomed us, and later stopped by our table to chat. The service was outstanding, better than many other places I’ve visited recently. Additionally, they’ve opened new apartments for rent on a daily basis right above the restaurant. We took a quick look, and they appeared cozy...
Read moreBab El Mina is truly a gem in Byblos. The moment you arrive, you’re welcomed not only by warm hospitality but also by a breathtaking view of the byblos port. Sitting by the sea, you feel connected to history while enjoying the calm sound of the waves. The food is exceptional. Every dish is prepared with fresh ingredients, and the flavors are rich, authentic, and refined. The quality is consistently top-notch, whether you’re there for seafood, traditional Lebanese plates, or simply to enjoy a fresh mezze by the sea. Read moreComplaint. First, if I could rate the place for -1 star I will not hesitate.
Staff were rude and had bad attitude,we felt not welcomed. Usually as a restaurant in touristic area staff have to be more welcomed. My feedback is based on experience in high end customer service for more than 20 years.
1- chairs and furniture are broken. 2-we had to ask the staff to clean the table Before we settle down. 3- the menu was given after we ask the staff many times. 4- timing We arrive at 4:50 pm till 5:12 pm none of the staff was bothered to ask for our order. only one table of 13 was busy. only 2 staff and one bar tender was In the restaurant. -And of course we left since no one of the staff approached us.
To Bab al mina management, Kindly improve your service, increase your employee and I guess more useful training in customer service have to be applied. Or my advice to close the restaurant and let some investors take over to recreate the true experience that byblos...
