It's about a 9 minute ride to go up. What surprised us is that once you get to the top there's not much there. There's an okayish viewpoint, pricey restaurant and 50 cent paid toilets but no castle. For the castle you need to hike about 20 minutes down over a steep path with sharp rocks and slippery walks. Not entirely safe for little kids. Walking the same way back up is quite a climb. The prices recently have gone up quite a bit. Adults are now 5,50 euro each for a return and kids 3,00 euro each for a return. Kids of 2 or younger are free and can come along. They however don't check for tickets when going down so you could just as well opt for a one way ticket. The walk down from the castle is well doable. Even more doable than the half hour walk back from the castle up to the chairlift. Having said all that, the ride itself is quite nice. My son of 3 loved it. There's free unlimited parking right next to the start of the chairlift so don't park at one of the paid three hour places throughout the village. If you don't care much for the chairlift but just want to visit the castle just drive up to the castle instead. You can park only 5 minutes walking away from the...
Read moreNice chairlift to the viewpoint, restaurant and hiking trails at the top of the hill over the castle. -Chair lift cost i think 8 euros for one way. I only went up, not down. -Both ways have very nice views of the town and castle. The chairlift alone is a great viewpoint. -You can buy tickets at the top and bottom of the chairlift. -One thing you can do if you are visiting the castle and viewpoint and dont want to do uphill hiking, then you can take the chair lift to the top, walk down the trail to the castle and explore the castle, and then walk down the road back to the town/river. all downhill walking. The castle is about half way up the hill. -The chairlift goes nicely over the river, which i saw otters swimming below. And then goes almost vertical up to the top of the hill. -they are open...
Read moreSuch a cool experience! We went with three adults and three kids aged 5,3, and 1. The lift is easily accessible from the road with street parking and a few semi close lots. The Chairs seat two people so we had one kid go with one adult. I wore the 20 month old so she couldn’t have a tantrum and throw herself off. I was concerned we might lose a shoe though - I’d recommend stowing footwear or choosing shoes that can’t slip off like crocs. The lift brings you up to a restaurant and observation deck. Food was ok, nothing great but the view and experience made up for it plus there was ice cream and beer and the staff spoke English. FYI - there IS a trail from the peak to the castle, but it is very steep and slippery and not well marked, though it probably would have been hard...
