The Macao Museum (MOP15 per person) is probably the best museum in Macau for visitors interested to learn about local history, heritage and culture. Located within Monte Forte, next to the Ruins of St. Paul, you can easily spend 30 minutes or much longer going through 35 exhibitions spaced out over three floors at the Macao Museum. It is also well worth visiting the top level garden area where you can find nice 360 degree views of the city. Here you can find a nice collection of artefacts, displays related Portuguese colonisation, role of religion, sea trade and other industries that have, along with local customs and traditions, shaped Macau into the place we have today. Overall, it is a good museum providing visitors with helpful context for what they will see during your sightseeing endeavours within the Historic Centre of Macau. In this regard, it is well worth the MOP15 (USD$2) entry fee and a bit of your time during visits to Macau. Note: The museum is open Tuesday - Sundays (10-6pm), closed on Mondays and national holidays. Note: Other popular museums in Macau to consider include the Grand Prix Museum, Wine Museum, Maritime Museum and the Space Museum.

A nice and hi-tech small-medium sized museum. Had a lot of interesting stories on Macao's trading route that was presented in a very interesting way and definitely can capture young kids as well as adults. The plus is at the end, when you reached the top, you reached the top of the fortress too, so you don't have to walk up to see it separately. The only big minus is the restroom - at the fortress site, it's so smelly and had no toilet paper. So we had to go back inside the museum to use the restroom. But since the smelly ones is not in the museum, I didn't deduct the star from the museum.

A collection of exhibits of old Macau. It is a time capsule, with an ideal image of Macau as a place of encounter of two cultures, the Portuguese, the Chinese and the resulting Macanese culture. Having been built in 1998 it represents the mood of the city just by the handover. It isn't too big a museum and the space is quite nice, well documented, presented and taken care of. Being underground learning about Macau's history seems perfectly adequate, more so once you come out on top of the hill and have a panoramic view of the real present city below.

15 MOP ticket. The place is so nice, and they offer free professional tour guide that speaks mandarin (if you’re lucky and able to understand.) The tour will elaborate on their relationship with the history of Macao from different exhibits. Basically you will learn a brief history class after the tour. The history of Macau is very interesting.

A funny fact that most pavement of the famous attractions were paved with stones and designed in different images, mostly is waves and other...
