黑胡椒燒鴨肶飯 Black Pepper Roasted Duck Leg (No Rice) = HKD75.00 Mandatory Cup of Tea = HKD3.00 No Service Charge
This Eatery in Macau is apparently Famous for their Black Pepper Roast Goose Leg but unfortunately it was sold out when I was there and I was recommended to try Black Pepper Roast Duck which was their next popular item. I figured why not since I have not yet eaten Roast Duck yet.
It was really Packed and Crowded during Lunch Hours when I was there. The Whole Place had a very Old School Crowded and Chaotic Hong Kong Eatery sort of feel that you normally see in HK Movies.
As I mentioned in my Initial Interesting Observations Post, the Wonderful Thing about Eateries in Hong Kong is that even though they may be Crowded, as long as you are a Solo Traveller, all you need to do is walk in, tell the Staff you're a Solo Diner and they will automatically help you find a seat which will require you to share tables with others.
Although it was a Lunch Time Rush Hour, the Auntie Staffs were still Friendly and perhaps because I spoke Cantonese with them, I got a talking to 大姐 type of feel.
黑胡椒燒鴨肶飯 Black Pepper Roasted Duck Leg (No Rice) = HKD75.00
The Roasted Duck Drummy itself is on the Wetter Side. Skin is Crispy but not the Super Crispy type. Meat is Tender and Juicy to the Bite. The Sauce they lum over this is Not Overly Salty.
It does have an Elegant and Mild Taste of Black Pepper that is not Overpowering. Black Pepper is not an easy ingredient to incorporate because it is a somewhat Strong Tasting Spice.
Add Too Much and its too Overpowering. Add Too Little, and you can't really taste it. I like how the Black Pepper is Very Nicely Incorporated the way they did it. Just the Right Balance. Strong enough that it is Noticeable, but Not Too Strong that it Completely Overpowers the Original Taste of the Duck.
Conclusion and Closing Thoughts:
HKD75.00 (S$13.00) feels Expensive for this, but Black Pepper is a Slightly Unusual Flavour thats used for Roast Duck. I don't think I've seen this done in Singapore or JB before. It was certainly a Refreshing Change from the Usual Dang Gui Roasted Ducks we're used to having.
It was a pity I wasn't able to try their Black Pepper Roast Goose Leg but this was still a Nice Meal. If you are in Macau, I can recommend to give this place a try for a Slightly Different Style of Roast Duck / Roast Goose.

Read moreFamous roast meat stall in Macau! Seating area is pretty small. We reached around 1130 on a sat and needed to queue for about 5-10 min before getting a table for 4. The place is packed with people and as we left around 1215 a long queue of about 10 people has formed. There are also a lot take-away orders.
They served black pepper ducks/ goose which is pretty tasty. Have options to rice, noodles and porridge. We order black pepper duck, char siew and roast pork. We like the pepper duck the most, very savoury taste. Char siew and roast port however are normal.
I find the meats are a little too oily. Should take it in moderation. That said, a pack of rice with black pepper duck will be great in my opinion. This is a place where one should tuck in fast and leave after eating as it is not a comfortable place to sit for long.
Overall, i would recommend to come here for their peppered duck after all this is probably the best roast meat...
Read moreIf you're expecting a quiet gourmet experience, this is not what you looking for. It's a cafe style restaurant, specialized in BBQ pork (char siu), roast duck, steamed chicken and crispy pork belly. On normal days the line to get sitting is long (there are around 8 tables only) so either come for dinner on a week day and you might get lucky, or just do take away and find a garden, eat at home, or at the hotel etc. I'm not a big fan of white rice, so I usually go for the "ho fan" (large noodles) to go with the meat. The vegetables are nicely done too, I recommend the kai lan. Some people consider the place "expensive" but the price is slightly above average, at worst. Let's not forget this is a famous place tourists from mainland China and neighboring Hong Kong usually look for when they visit Macau. Service is ok, considering it's always busy. Overall...
