Apparently this place is historic; this restaurant has been making Cantonese style noodles for generations. These noodles are thin, fragile-like, but they hold their shape and texture well when cooked to perfection. We ordered their specialty, the saucer noodles with shrimp roe, on top of the regular wonton noodles soup. The shrimp roe had strong shrimp taste, so make sure you mix well. Chase every bite with the shrimp-based broth. The wontons in their soup were great, juicy on the inside. We also got the fried wontons, which were so light and fragile in your hands, but complimented well with the sauce that came with them. The fried fish balls were an acquired taste, as they came with very salty clam-based dipping sauce, but I came to like it after a few bites. Mind you, the place was SMALL. If you're used to spacious dining rooms, this experience will be very different. You may even find yourself sharing a larger table with other families. And also, cash only, though they would take HK Dollars if you are short on local currency. But if you're in Macau and looking for local eateries near the ruins of St Paul, this is a worthwhile visit.

The Wong Chi Kei shop located on Senado Square was setup to take advantage of the heavy foot traffic and volume of tourists that visit the popular area of the historic city centre. We made a quick stop here recently for breakfast, finding their wonton w/ noodles and beef noodle soup dishes to be ok, nothing special but nothing bad either (rating 3 of 5). Morning dishes are relatively cheap, service is direct, fast and you can be on your way to some sightseeing in the area in no more than 25-30 minutes. After 11.30am in the morning, they begin serving a much wider range of noodle, rice and other local dishes. Queues can be long during the day with visitors eager to try this long standing restaurant in Macau. If interested in trying the original Macau based Wong Chi Kei, this one is located on Rua de Cinco road and has been serving up their famous noodle based dishes since the 1940s.

The restaurant wasn't really inviting from the outside. I missed it the first time I passed it. The interior is quite vintage. Heard that this was a legendary restaurant. So, we ordered fried rice as the first dish. It was quite ok but when you add the chili oil then the fried rice becomes so flavorful. That's the secret ingredient. The fish balls dish wasn't up to our expectations. The noodles in the wanton noodle wasn't to our liking but the wanton was very good. Luckily we also ordered the wanton only. The best dish I think is the pork porridge. The pork innards were so fresh and the porridge has a thick consistency. Best dish for me. Two thumbs up

Not sure what happened a few years ago when there were a lot of people giving 1 star reviews but when we visited recently, the food was absolutely fantastic. The shrimp roe noodle is on the dry side but still very good. The soup was comforting. The dace fish ball was also amazing. You can taste the fish but it was not fishy and the texture is chewy, absolutely love it. Because it was hot, we ordered iced milktea which was very refreshing also. Price might be a bit pricey for a typical cantonese style noodle stall but the location was prime so I think justifiable given the quality. Just be prepared they only accept cash.

try the noodle and pork chop in a mantou. Wong Chi Kei is a local traditional eatery which has been opened in Macau for half century. The founder of the restaurant, who learnt the skill of making bamboo noodles from an expert in Guangzhou, introduced these noodles and developed them in Macau. At present, the tradition of flavour is still well-preserved. Aside from their signature “bamboo noodles with shrimp roe”, Wong Chi Kei also provides traditional Cantonese home-styled dishes such as silky beef congee, crunchy beef ball, alluring roasted pork rice

Delicious noodle resto. It was crowded in the morning but the place has 3 floors so we could get a table at the third floor. The building style is of an old house, so it's unique. Tried the wonton noodle, shrimp dumpling noodle, and the shrimp roe noodle. The wonton and shrimp dumpling is good with huge portion of noodles. We pointed at a picture of shrimp & shrimp roe noodle to the staff for order, but what came was only shrimp roe noodle without the shrimp. Slightly disappointed but overall it was a satisfying brunch.
