I had my first taste of Portuguese and Macanese food in this very nice, very homey, very artsy place — which isn’t the best thing about it. The food was definitely sublime— that clams in white wine sauce and duck rice (!!!) and bachalau will leave you smiling and thinking about it days after you’ve had it 😍 Simply fell in love with Portucau 澳葡坊 and it’s good enough to plan a trip back this time with all my little monsters in tow.

Now for the best part: the crew!

Any restaurant owner overseas who employs Filipinos as their dinner crew will always win. Naturally friendly, talented and snappy would be the best description for our kababayans working abroad in the hospitality industry. But this team— oh this team of very warm, professional, simply fantastic Pinoys are top notch! They really made my birthday super special. And we just met hahaha! Thank you for your hospitality and that very sweet surprise. Saya!

So if you find yourself hankering for great Portuguese food, and you’re in the land of the Macanese— drop by this very quirky and fun place in the Senado Square area and I guarantee you’d have the best time! I know Nadya and I did and I just want to pay it forward and make sure this fab gastro find gets the love and attention it deserves.

And yes, their coffee was really good too!

Thank you, Gellie, Jonathan, Alyanna, Nica and Zaza! You guys really rock! More power and more...

I’m from Hong Kong and I swear I come to this restaurant everytime I’m in Macau😭

Everything is 10/10(based on what I order I am not sure about other dishes). I usually order the garlic shrimp, white wine clams and macanese chicken. Shrimp is so flavourful and clams have the best sauce to dip into(I always dip the bread inside). The macanese chicken is sooo tender and cooked to perfectionnn. The sauce again is perfect everytime.

The staff is so attentive and friendly. They saw us struggling with the sauce and gave us spoons.

The decor in this restaurant!!! It’s the best in any other restaurant I can across. They have a sick vintage car with mannequins at the front door WHAT?! And it’s also giving vintage vibes inside the restaurant, I mean… I would come again and again. It’s been a year since I first visited and the quality didn’t even drop a tiny bit… I swear they have a secretly top chef here…

Ps. I’ve been using google maps since forever and this is the first time I ever left a review I don’t even do this...

We were looking for an authentic Portuguese resto and we are so glad we found Portucau. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel right at home. Our server, J, greeted us with a warm smile and genuine enthusiasm. He clearly loves his job and takes pride in the food and service at this cozy neighborhood spot.

We started with the bun, which turned out to be the best bread we have ever had in our lives. The food was authentic and delicious. Throughout our meal, J checked in on us regularly to ensure we were enjoying everything. He was honest in mentioning that the AC was struggling to keep up with the summer heat, but assured us that they were working to resolve the issue. We truly appreciated his attentiveness and commitment to our satisfaction.

As we were getting ready to leave, J stopped by one last time to thank us for dining with them and asked if there was anything else he could do. It's clear that providing an exceptional customer experience is a top priority at Portucau. We'll definitely...

While waiting to be seated, I couldn’t stop to look up and around this restaurant that served traditional Portuguese and Macanese food. What really caught my eye are the numerous artificial pigs that hung upside down on the ceiling at the entrance. Every decos are interesting, from the abacus wall at the reception to the many traditional Chinese bird cages and lanterns hanging above, antique collections on display from Portugal and aesthetic plates and vintage albums hanging from the walls. The vibe is eclectic mix of east & west. We ordered the seafood rice stew, the remarkable Petingas (sardines), salt codfish balls and roast suckling pig to pair with our sangria. This establishment was nothing but wonderful to me and my wife. The restaurant is truly a hidden gem at Senado Square. The service standards were impeccable, especially Jay who was friendly and courteous. 10/10 that I would absolutely recommend at this divine haven of restaurant serving authentic and delicious food.

This vintage ambiance brings you back in 1960’s by being surrounded with Macau and Hong Kong 1960-70’s ornaments. That alone is my recommendation, to sit-back and relax admiring the settings. In a restaurant food is always the king. With this I must say that they kept the “authentic traditional” way of Portuguese cooking which is a perfect meal to savour the real deal (not modern, not fission, it’s real). What I like most on the dishes was the Chicken Piri-Piri and Duck Rice. In addition goat cheese and caldo-Verde soup. The service is good, the waiters pay attention to the guest and response immediately. In terms of hygiene, there’s a sanitiser available. The price per person is around MOP150-250/pax for a complete indulgence of 3-5 course meal including drinks. It is located at the heart of Macau (a minute walk to Leal Senado Square and Se Cathedral). Overall it is a good place to dine, lounge on a regular basis with family, friends and even casual business.
