The finest patisserie I’ve had in Penang, with a price tag to match.
The place is immaculately decorated with lots of natural light enhanced by all the white walls and furniture. Very clean and comfortable as you’d expect from a place like this.
Parking can be a bit of a hassle as there is limited space on site and double parking is common so you may have to move your car to let someone out or have someone move theirs so you can leave. This is hard to avoid with properties of this type in Georgetown. To be fair to the restaurant, their staff do actively manage the parking situation and are very polite about it all.
We only sampled a few items from the menu, but all were very well crafted. The yuzu petit gateaux had a good yuzu flavour without being too sharp. The base added great texture to the sponge and mousse. The vanilla cheesecake was delicious. The rose lychee macaron was nice and very light, though perhaps a little too light and lacking in the chewiness I expected from the centre.
The staff were very attentive overall despite there being a fair number of customers, noticing when we got up to go to the bathroom, clearing away finished plates, etc. That made having to go to the counter to order and pay a little strange to me… with such active table service and a service charge added, I expected to be able to order at the table. Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with getting up to place an order, but at this kind of establishment with this kind of price, I was a little surprised.
Probably deserving of 4.5 stars. If you’ve got the money to spend and want some proper high quality patisserie, this is the place to go. Though I think I’d personally rather spend my money at somewhere like La Vie En Rose and get a little more bang...
Read moreA Delectable High Tea Experience at JT
From the moment we stepped into JT for their high tea, we were enchanted by the delightful array of offerings. The desserts, a highlight of our experience, struck the perfect balance - deliciously crafted without being overly sweet. The Christmas edition cake, in particular, was a feast for both the eyes and the palate, combining stunning aesthetics with mouth-watering flavors.
The croissant deserves a special mention for its impeccable texture – flaky on the outside with a soft, buttery interior. Paired with the smokey salmon, it was a culinary delight. But what truly set our experience apart was the exceptional service. The staff were not just friendly, but genuinely attentive, ensuring our high tea was a memorable affair.
However, our experience was not without a hiccup. We found a small piece of plastic in one of the croissants. Addressing this, the staff displayed commendable accountability. They not only apologized but also comped our entire meal. While we were taken aback by this mishap, their response showcased a deep commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
Overall, our visit to JT was a blend of exquisite tastes and top-notch service, marred only briefly by an unforeseen issue that was handled with the utmost professionalism. We left with a sense of appreciation for their dedication to great quality and a desire to...

Upon stepping into the cafe, the gentle scent of floral notes immediately surrounds you, reminiscent of the serene ambiance found at Shangri-La KL. The environment exudes peace, with thoughtfully arranged seating that invites relaxation. The staff is notably attentive—so much so that they remember our original seating positions while preparing the tables, despite our frequent picture-taking and seat-shifting.
As for the pastries, they are uniquely crafted. We ordered the tiramisu cake, and it was an innovative take on the classic dessert. Encased in a thin layer of hardened white chocolate, the tiramisu maintained its shape beautifully. The base is expertly infused with coffee, offering a delightful non-alcoholic version of the dessert that surpassed our expectations in flavor.
The coffee served here is of excellent quality. The visible crema atop the coffee is a testament to their brewing skills. I tried the iced Americano, which remained robust in flavor even after the ice melted.
While the prices are on the higher side, the overall experience justifies the cost. I would highly recommend visiting this cafe again for a unique pastry experience and...
