We stayed here for 1 night in a 2-bedroom suite. This hotel is made up of double-storey shoplots, where the units are located on the upper floor. Access to each suite is by key-code, from the street sidewalk. Reception area is on the ground floor of one of the shoplots, facing the busy road. So, it was quite difficult to stop our GrabCar there and unload our luggage. There isn't any porter service available, so you have to carry your luggage up the stairs to your suite.||||Check-in was fast, but the staff member handling our check-in was brash and inhospitable. I understand that he may have wanted to complete the check-in process as fast as possible but he made me feel irritated and unwelcome. A refundable deposit will be required.||||Suites are exactly as advertised, with furnishings that look and feel new. There is only 1 washroom available though, so each guest has to take turns. Towels and toiletries are provided. Taps/showers all come with hot/cold water.||||Kitchenette area comes with refridgerator, microwave, electric kettle, electric stove and a 7kg/5kg washer+dryer machine (all from Electrolux)! Was very impressed that a washing machine was provided and managed to wash/dry my laundry with the detergent provided in the kitchen sink cabinet. Dish washing liquid and cutlery are also provided.||||Bedroom was comfortable but there is some noise from the traffic on the busy road. For us, it was still bearable and we managed to sleep. ||||On hindsight, maybe this place isn't so good for people with young children. As our suite had a staircase from the suite door, and children have to be monitored to prevent them from falling down these stairs. Secondly, the suite door opens out directly to the street sidewalk, which is right next to the busy road. Again young children with a tendency to run around, may accidentally run into traffic on the road. ||||However, if you do not have young children with you, are not a light sleeper and need facilities like the one at home, do...
Read moreI stayed for 2 nights (Sunday and Monday) in early November 2019 with my parents in a 2 bedroom suite. ||||Having lived in high rise flats my whole life, it was an interesting experience staying on the second floor of a preserved shophouse in the UNESCO world heritage site. Just a walk up a flight of stairs and we're in the room.||||We did not mind that the hotel did not have facilities like a restaurant, swimming pool, or gym, considering that we only needed the hotel for a good rest from travelling.||||Our room was very spacious with all the amenities that we required. Cooking equipment like induction cooker, cooking pan, and cutlery were also provided. ||||Our sleep was not affected by the traffic noise, even for a light sleeper like my mother. While we could hear the traffic from our room in the day time, the noise reduced at night during our stay.||||Our room was within walking distance to Cecil Street market and hawker centre, which provided many local Chinese food options. We also walked to First Avenue Mall, a shopping centre that housed many international brands. The nearest convenience store that we found was about a 10 minute walk away.||||The hotel reception was located just beside my room and the friendly staff were well versed in English. The reception was only open from 10am to 10pm. If you have to check in or check out outside of opening hours, you might have to call the hotel number. We had to pay a 200 MYR deposit when we checked in, that was refunded upon check out. ||||Considering the spaciousness of the room and its convenient location, I would definitely consider staying in this hotel again if I am travelling to Penang...
