What to do at specialist outpatient clinic: 1. Upon arriving at at clinic area, look for kaunter 7: submit your referral letter / appointment card / blood test forms here, to get your number. 2. Wait near kaunter 1 - 5 for your call. If you're only here to get bloods taken, then move to just beside kaunter 7 to pintu A, and tell the person inside that ure here to take blood. 3. Once your number is called by either kaunter 1-5, get your file and proceed to the designated door of your speciality. If you're not sure, please ASK the counter staff for directions. No point walking around aimlessly. 4. At this point, my suggestion is (since you're gonna have to take medications too later after seeing the doctor) take a number for the pharmacy queue too before seeing the doctor. It is just to the left of the main counter (behind the stairs with dolphins painted) Yes, BEFORE seeing the doctor. The wait (at the pharmacy) is even longer than the doctor. And this number is to submit your prescription slip & not to take medications yet! Comments: I must say that every government based hospital is a great service to the community and rakyat. What I don't like is the system being abused. Abused by patients and workers themselves. Patient abuse the system to get near free medication, blood test and consult up to subspecialty level, which in the private cost RM200+ on your 1st visit (just for consult ALONE, not counting blood investigations and medicine). Worst is that they act as though they're "entitled" to all of this and are ungrateful. Yes, we all pay taxes, some less and others more, but we can't compare to westerners country which taxes are easily double of what we're paying + they need to pay for insurance as well just to get to use the hospital facility. So, be appreciative of this benefit we still can enjoy. Hospital staff abuse the system by being lazy and what Chinese people call safe by feeding off a "metal rice bowl" that never breaks (meaning fix, secure and guarantee income regardless of how well or bad one performs). In Malay terms, just simply being a "mangkuk" of an attitude. The mentality of "why work more when I still get paid the same" attitude is what makes the system flawed. No counter check and balance. Even with systems in place to counter this, Malaysian supervisors are too "nice" to criticise a staff all because our subordinates are also "orang kita". What I don't like is also the lackadaisical attitude of some (not all) staff. Simple jobs such as instructions can't be given properly to help ease the confused 1st timers who are lost, or a kind word & gentle smile to help calm the nerves of an anxious relative, all in all, the lack of sincerity as an individual at work, makes all this a much worst experience here. Well, that's why there's private for those who can afford. While for those to can't afford, just too bad...too bad...God bless those who work sincerely and those patient souls who receive injustice on daily basis/during every visit. The parking is horrible to say the least: the jam (of lack of traffic security), the almost always spoiled carpark paying machine, the single SMALL entrance into the general parking space, the limited parking space BUT ample free dead spaces around the parking area itself, forcing those who have missed the junction to make another looong journey through the same jam. Let's not even discuss about the facilities, timing to consult, medications used, and many many other problems. Just the rantings of a patient waiting in line to see a kind doctor.

Took my MIL for blood test, searching for the parking almost 1 hour. HSA Inside parking fully occupied. With no choice Drop MIL at outpatient department, let her alone in wheelchair. There is no choice to find more parking inside the hospital I parked car at outside of the hospital. After 30 minutes I back to my car, the car is not there. My car was taken by Penguatkuasa and I paid rm 250 to took back my car. This is totally ridiculous!! When I told this to the penguatkuasa staff who attended me, he said it’s normal ! WTH šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø HSA management do arrange appropriate & enough parking for the customer. This is too ridiculous. Where u expect us to park if there is not enough parking !

Don’t be fool by those insurance sales person which ask you to pay sky rocket medical card etc. Malaysian citizen entitle the free government health care from hospital. One of my mate paid 11000 MYR medial card yearly and on the tense situations still been dump to these government hospitals. Private health care providers need to maintain Key Performance Index, and most of them doesn’t equipped well enough. Big hospital have most medical equipment, they don’t up sale anything patients don’t need. They safe patients life and treat patients. Car park is always full on the front main entrance and the rear entrance is a bit less crowded and always manage to find a parking sport. Parking fee pay via touch and go or Malaysian IC tng function if loaded with cash. If need to buy drink please prepare RM1 note as touch and pay wave is not available Mum have stroke, Pulmonary edema, kidney failure need urgent dialysis with MRI scan surgery operation etc. bills come up less than 80 MYR for 1 week stay, most importantly discharged alive. Private single room is not available according to the nurse, building is under renovation. For small surgery on arm insurance claim paid out 13000 MYR back in 2009 3 days stay at private hospital. So do the math yourself. Services wise ward nurse getting frustrated and sometime will be less patient in the ward, because each family members enquiries the same thing (how is the patient recovering etc) they answer thousand or hundred time in a day. So I don’t blame them for they tune (imagine the workloads and put yourself into their shoes) Nurse outside ward (dialysis department is patient and helpful). Doctor consultation & treatment received is fair and ok from my experiences. Specialist graduate from UK etc. (those pay grade on NHS is Ā£120/140k pa), another side of field always greener. Medical professionals can work in Singapore for better pay and quality of life instead yelling from patient family here. If you want to complain go United Kingdom try NHS (British government hospitals), junior doctors are on strike while I am doing this review. I live 20 years in England and from 2015 hardly able to make an appointment to see doctor in person with NHS services. If you still not happy about Malaysian public hospital try to see the pandemic death figures ( I was petrified when the NHS by London Bridge building tend and have cold truck parking by to store pandemic deceased). Google the figures yourself. Remember the dress code, weather is hot here make sure wear long trouser. Yes security is not friendly, only 2 visit per ward patient. Imagine some patient have 20 son and 40 grandsons. If you lay next to those patient you don’t want surround by 60 strangers in ward. I visited Melaka hospital 2019 they even gated and have one security guard with gun before entering treatment hall. When family members ill, next of kin can be panic and out of control sometime so try to calm down a bit. Be grateful for...

Bring my father to hospital on 18th May at 10am due to intestine swelling and doctor said need to admit and do surgery . Wait all the way for one day . I ask the doctor to call us when they bring to ward . The doctor and and another female doctor said we’ll change shift and we’ll forgot too. I asked for a number to call it’s alright you no need to call I’ll call n ask . They said they not entertain and practices like this so far. Woww what a reply from the doctor. On 19th May only admit at ward around 4.30pm. Just nicely I went there around 4pm still no updates. 4.30pm when they says to bring to ward the attendant never help my father to sit in wheelchair and all I do it by myself and the attendant refused to push the wheelchair and ask me to push . While walking ti ward the attendant was in phone call. Once reached ward he ask me stop here and disappear. After one and half an hour one malay nurse came and ask my father can you walk or not ? After that I asked for admission letter to doctor and the doctor said nothing related to her so she ask me to ask the nurse . When I asked another nurse she said she not incharge for the patient and the nurse again mention must ask doctor and the nurse don’t have cop and no authority. Visiting time finish 6.30pm. The next day on 20th May visit at 12.30pm the updates from doctor . Fathers iv plug blocked and no iv infuse . So the nurse around 10am come and off iv and tell my father will reinsert again .
