I booked this hotel due from July 20th to 26th via Agoda on July 17, 2024.
I checked in on July 20th afternoon. The room is not hygienic. The furniture and facilities look like they were made in the 1980s. The outdated air conditioner is full of dirt. That aside, I found many ants running on the ground, the wall, and the bedsheet. I was bitten by them a few times on the first night. That aside, the water pressure is too low. Therefore I asked the clerk to change a room. However, I found two sockets to the left of the bed do not work in this changed room. The experience is a disaster. The actual condition is much worser than their photos on Agoda.
On July 21st, I had an emergency and I had to leave. The clerk agreed and said "I can apply for a refund for the booking from 22nd to 26th." However, I asked Agoda and later I was told the hotel pulled back becuase I have changed a room." I was annoyed. I talked to Agoda customer service through a dozen emails but they are so dumb and keep saying they only follow "the hotel polices." I believe Agoda has never verified whether the hotel is the same as what they show on the website and Agoda is not willing to protect the rights of their consumers. Therefore, Agoda is complicit with the hotel to scam travellers. Isn’t it a SCAM? Such a scam can be called “HOTEL POLICIES”?
If Agoda think they always need to follow what a hotel tells them, does it mean I can open a same ghetto hotel and do the same scam for travelers who book my hotel on Agoda without any regulations from the website? That sounds a...
Read moreIf anyone loves a good horror place to stay for your one overnight trip at Johor Bahru, Villa De Rose is that hotel you can consider staying. I always have a very low expectation when staying in a budget hotel. This hotel is really bad to the point that I have to say it is a scam. The place look so run down and there is no air conditioner and no proper shower for the guest. The staff was nice enough to tell me that there was no heater which I was fine with it as I usually shower without water heater in Singapore. That is actually not an issue with me. When I lay down on the bed for just a while, my skin felt itchy from probably the unwashed bedsheets and unwashed pillow cases. It was so bad I couldn’t stay for five minutes that I had to pay Ringgit 35 just to leave the haunted hotel. I was lucky that Lavender Inn had one room left for single traveller. I took my chance and it was really better. The hotel isn’t that glamorous despite Lavender Inn claimed that it had just renovated. This is my first time staying in Lavender Inn I cannot tell if the hotel had recently renovated but at least it has a proper shower and other basic amenities for the guests to use with some dignity. Overall if you are travelling alone for just overnight, Lavender Inn is really better choice and quite near to the security check point when returning to Singapore. I regretted and I should do my research better before paying the price. Oh yeah, I wish I can give negative star review for this hotel...
Read moreMe and my wife went and stayed here on Aug 3rd for a night stay. I was shocked to see a dilapidated building named as Villa De Rose. We were given a room on the 4th floor with no lift. When we get into the room, I was thinking of getting out of it as it was like scene in am old haunted movie room. The bed was rundown. Carpet floor was so bad and dusty , we had to buy a slipper just to walk into the toilet. We went out to shop and returned at night, just to find the gate was locked. We had to walk around it to a small steps to go into the building. At around 12 midnight, our room was being tried to open by the cleaners. Then at 2am a loud sound from the lizard make me stayed awake. I was so afraid for my wife, we literally had our lights on till morning. I didn't sleep a wink. I woke her up at 7am, and check out as fast as we can. I plead to people, please get a better hotel with at least...
