Its a sign of changing times that I struggled to find a decent Malaysian restaurant (or even street joint) at the centre of Johor Bahru, a Malaysian border port city. The place is filled with western style cafes, all of which am sure, with time, has mushroomed over, evicting Chinese and Malay food joints. It's sad. My research told Sedap Corner was the best Malay food place in that vicinity. So I took a Grab taxi and visited the place for our food trail. The restaurant is fine dining place, big seating area and with large portions of servings. The mixed beans vegetables, spicy fish asam pedas and seafood tom yum - all tasted good and so were the drinks. The toilets in this restaurant are very clean too. The place also sells cookie jars and jam jars. Overall a good Malaysian food experience. The staff at the counter Nur Shahzaa was extremely charming and polite. My phone didn't have data plan so she booked a grab taxi for us when we had to leave. Overall Sedap Corner is a recommended place to eat Malaysian food at JB. Total damage 90 MYR = 30 SGD = 23 USD for a fine dining meal for four including drinks. If you love to travel on a budget and seek value for money then my book on Amazon & Kindle should help you. Do search for ‘Scissors Paper Stones - A Family Budget travel guide’ in Amazon or kindle or Goodreads, to buy. Travel more to save more!

Cosy place for some nice authentic Malay cuisine. Seating was well allocated and positioned, table tops all have a nice tiled motif patterns on them. Pretty well lit with warm lighting and homely feel added to the general ambience due to the use of wood and brick elements. Service was acceptable, could use with a couple more waiters when the tables are all filled, but they try their best to attend. Although pressing the service button once is not going to be enough. Food was suitably priced (~RM12 for a dish) and well portioned. I ordered the Roti Jala with chicken curry, quite a pleasant dish, the Roti was soft and rolls nicely in my mouth, and paired with the chicken curry, it was simply curri-licious. There were about 3 chunks of chicken meat steeping in the bowl of curry, texture-wise it was passable, not overly cooked, but a smidge too tough for my liking. The flavor was nicely done though. Overall, I would give it a solid 7 out of 10. Definitely a recommendation for anyone looking for a nice cool environment to enjoy some delectable Malay food.

My mom found this place on Facebook thought wanna give it a try. Grabcar there from Jb Sentral at 10am. Greeted by pond with fish and turtles. Service was lacking nobody seated us or said hello so just find your own table. Find a waiter who will pass you the order chit and menu and then find the waiter again. Lucky the food came fast via robot with cute music. Delicious food and kuih. Drinks we had ice Thai milk tea, hot chocolate, 3 layer ice milk tea and ice lychee Sakura. No chendol or ice kacang available. My mom had Penang fried kway teow and calamari rings. Fish and chips for kids. Beef hor fun was so good everyone had to share. Brought home durian fudge cake, onde-onde cake, rainbow kuih lapis, almond sugee cookies and onde-onde Kueh. Payment for kuih and table was separate though. Come here for the good food and ambience. There's aircon and Al fresco dining.

Had late lunch between 3.30pm to 5pm on 6th May 2023 with 5 children (including 1 baby) and 2 sisters. Few issues to feedback:

unable to submit order via QR (showed QR error), approached the waiter and been told that it’s due to power trip. Therefore the order was taken manually.

Aircond was off after the manual order was done. With current heaty weather of course it’s kinda stuffy and hot. Approached the waiter again, they mentioned it was due to power trip. I noticed that only left with 3 tables occupied at that time. It’s getting more stuffy while we are having our meals and kids especially the baby started to cranky. Again when approached the waiters, they mentioned that they are having power supply issue. I looked around and noted that the fan located at outside of the restaurant was well functioned. None of the staff offered us to move to other table, to ensure our comfort.

Aircond near the cashier counter was on!! It’s really surprised me as when again I asked the cashier why this aircond was on unlike the other one near my table, they responded that they were having wiring issue on the aircond which was near to my table. FYI my table number is 16. As I left the restaurant, I saw the Closed signage was been placed right in front of the door! I check the website the restaurant stated the operation hours from 10am to 10pm

I don’t care if u guys are really desperate to close the restaurant for whatsoever reason. But at least have a courtesy toward the customers as we are paying service charge and we deserve to have cozy meals! I’m so disappointed with the service as I never experienced it in this restaurant before. You are just lost one family of your...

My father is a heart attack patient. My parents ordered mushroom soup , few of kuehs, beverage, half boiled egg while waiting for my father's appoinment at HSA. My parents reminded cashier they havent get their order two times and the cashier said need to check with Chef. Too long and my parents couldn't wait and need to go back to the hospital. They want to pay at counter and mentioned they havent got the eggs since they ordered. The cashier said chef didnt had the eggs boil. So with that, my parents want to cancel the order. To be suprise, the cashier said my parents still need to pay for the half boiled eggs that they dont received. With no hesitant, she said she couldnt cancel the order as its already in the system. I assumed this cashier is very rude and no professional manners with my parents are old and sick. My father is so mad and need to see the manager for her to clarify this issue. Funny enough, after my father lashed out only they can get the eggs since morning they ordered. None of them said sorry to my parents INCLUDING THE MANAGER. I WILL NEVER FORGET HOW YOU TREATED MY PARENTS WHEN I WAS NOT THERE. WITH MY HUMBLE HEART, I WOULD LOVE TO ASK EVERYONE TO BAN THIS PLACE AND DO NOT EAT HERE OR HAVE YOUR FAMILY EAT THERE. THE FOOD IS SUBPAR BUT THE SERVICES IS POOR AND I WILL NOT CONDONE ANY ACTION REGARDING THIS. DONT TREAT MY PARENTS AS IF THEY ARE PEASANTS. THEY ARE MY PARENTS AND YOUR CUSTOMERS. TREAT...
