Dear Summit USJ Shoppers: Here's What You Need to Know About Cart Returns
As a long-time USJ resident and loyal Summit USJ patron, I've always appreciated the convenience of this neighbourhood mall. However, my recent visit on September 28 left me with mixed feelings that every regular shopper should be aware of.
What Happened: After my usual weekly grocery run at NSK, I did what I thought was helpful—returned not one, but two shopping carts (no thanks to errant shoppers who leave carts in spaces between cars) to what seemed like a convenient collection point near the Lower Ground carpark where my car was parked. The carts rolled and hit the glass panel, and within moments, a security guard emerged, visibly upset about potential damage to the property.
The Issue: While I immediately apologized and acknowledged my mistake, the interaction felt more like a scolding than a teachable moment. The guard continued admonishing me even as another shopper wheeled his cart to the exact same spot moments later—highlighting a clear systemic problem.
What Summit USJ Needs to Fix: Clear Signage Matters: Where ARE we supposed to return these carts? Without designated areas and visible signage, shoppers are left guessing—and potentially damaging property unintentionally. Customer Service Training is Essential: Security personnel work incredibly hard (12-hour shifts, 7 days a week!), and they deserve our respect. But they also need soft skills training. A calm "Hey, just so you know for next time..." goes much further than unpleasant reprimands. Systems Over Blame: If multiple shoppers keep making the same "mistake," it's not a shopper problem—it's a design flaw. Bottom Line Summit USJ, you're our neighborhood hub. We want to support you. But please invest in proper cart return infrastructure and empower your security team with people skills that match their dedication. Your regular shoppers deserve better communication, and your hardworking guards deserve tools to succeed without confrontation. And yes, of course, I will...
Read moreOne hour ago, I was at Summit to have lunch with my daughter, when I wanted to make payment unfortunately my ATM card didn't work and I had cash to pay via Maybank QR payment however the stupid Kopitiam restaurant didn't have QR payment facilities. So I left my daughter at the restaurant and went to the ATM opposite NSK Supermarket to withdraw money but I couldn't since my card wasn't working.
I had an idea that time, as I saw an Indian husband and wife sitting at a bench opposite NSK, I asked help from them if they have cash I will QR payment the money and I even show how much money I have in my account to the Indian guy. He's wife looked at me like I'm a begger and her husband raised he's voice and shout at me saying NO NO...WE DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY...
It's quite disappointed the way they treated me.... even I showed them my bank balance in the phone... finally I was helped by a Pakistan guy whom selling chips and snacks there buy giving RM20 and I QR him back the money into he's touch ngo e wallet. I paid the money at restaurant and brought my daughter back whom waited at the restaurant there...
I saw this Indian couple again in the NSK Supermarket buying something and looked at me and my daughter as if we did something wrong....
I understand it's people's nature whether they want to help or not but why have to shout and raise the voice??? I was worried as I left my daughter at the restaurant which far of my sight....and my thoughts was Indian people will help Indian when I saw these people....
God is watching and these Indian couple when they put into situation like myself one day then they will know how I felt it today.
Karma is...
Read moreA place where you can get everything. This is one of the oldest mall I knew since I was a kid! As far as I know, it's been here for more than 20 years or perhaps 25 years.
In total there is about 5 levels. Now that they just renovated the mall about a year ago, its a lot more spacious, clean and looking brand new. In this mall, they have Mr DIY, a number of salon, Barber shop, many boutique, tayloring, alteration, silver Zippo(selling silver), family mart, Chinese herbal tea, Watson, guardian, miniso, McDonald's, kfc, one of the best Thai food, new marke, black canyon, Penang street(a very delight restaurant that cooks many Chinese dishes and malay dishes), bookalicious, home pro, ace hardware, gaming equipment, there are also many eateries which is very much delicious. Sometimes, I would get my hair done in summit for special occasions. Other saloons are pretty reliable as I have my usual ones that I always go to. It has done pretty fabulous.
On the other hand, do not worry about parking. There is plenty. Everytime that I would decided to shop in summit mall, it was never a problem for me. It always took me less than 2 minute to get a park. As for the auto-pay machine, in every exit to the car park entrance, there will be often be 2.
Even though they don't have the fancy shops such as the clothings premium outlets but summit provide very handy items like housing equipment, gardening tools, decorations etc. I strongly recommend to go there if you're looking something for your home. It's pretty affordable and good...
