My wife and I live in the area and have enjoyed Munchies many times. Great location, nice menu, good(ish) food, nice wine list and generally attentive service. However, on this particular night (Sat15June19) there seemed to be a total disconnect between the front of house staff and the kitchen staff, which sadly resulted in our party receiving undercooked and overcooked steaks, poorly cooked duck and missing or strangely substituted vegetables. Especially 'wrong' were the duck breasts, which, instead of being cooked whole (to the customer's specific tastes) then sliced for presentation, had clearly been sliced first, then overcooked, seemingly without any of the flavours promised on the menu. I must give praise to those staff members who were warm, attentive and helpful on the night, but certain others didn't seem to give a damn. One particular male waiter was dismissive (borderline aggressive) and just plain rude. I don't expect everyone to speak perfect Maltese and/or English and I recognise cultural and behavioural differences. Nevertheless, I do expect courtesy and civility in a (not cheap) restaurant and to receive the food I order. Everyone can have a bad day at work (or even a really bad day), so I'll give Munchies one more try. But if it fails me again, then...
Read moreI was visiting this restaurant when I had the worst of the worst experience. We’re waiting to be seated, then Milan told us to find a table. We couldn’t and I noticed only 2 people sitting at huge tables, therefore,I asked a waiter if I can separate one table. ( the two gentlemen whose sitting there told us it’s fine) when Milan came outside and started shouting with us. He was absolutely disgraceful and even my own father never spoken to me like that. After this shocking experience I told him to stop talking to us like that but he carried on. I asked him if he’s talking to woman like that in his country and he said “ there are no woman like you”( with a disgust on his face)
I have absolutely no words of explaining how I felt. I wasn’t sure it was a racial comment or just simply because I am a woman. Either way; this is not okay!
We did spoke to the manager regarding this who was really lovely and I saw on her face, this was not the first experience someone complained about Milan. She said “ he likes darked skinned women”.
To be honest, I really not recommending this restaurant or this company at all as if they have this kind of employees that’s...
Read moreThe food at this restaurant was delicious, but I have no choice but to give a low rating due to the poor service.
The reason is that the glass of lemonade I ordered completely shattered the moment I picked it up. Shockingly, no one apologized or even asked if we were okay. All we kept hearing was, "It's okay," which felt dismissive rather than comforting. One of the managers even said it wasn't their fault and simply walked away. Meanwhile, we were left standing awkwardly as they cleaned the table. Despite asking to be seated at the neighboring table, we were made to wait for quite some time. Eventually, we were seated, but by then, our mood had completely plummeted. That said, I do want to acknowledge that the food itself was very tasty.
What I took away from this experience is that if the staff had shown a bit more care and professionalism, they could have left travelers with a much better memory of their visit. After all, for some people, a trip to Malta may be a...
