4 main courses, a large spring water and a small ice tea. All in all approximately 78€ (580,- Dkr.)
We ordered three Great Dane Burgers and a Jägerschnitzel. We ordered one of the three burgers without pickles and without onions.
The order took it's time but we blamed the one "different" burger for the wait. Although after 45 minutes of waiting as we saw all the other tables around us being served I approached the waiter and asked when our order would come.
Shortly after a waitress served us two burgers and boeuf stroganoff. We kindly declined the stroganoff and asked for the schnitzel that we had actually ordered. We also asked for the third burger which she could not account for. She replied that it would be with us shortly. About five minutes later she served us the third burger and still no schnitzel. I approached the waiter who took our original order and shortly explained the matter to him. He returned less than 10 minutes later with the schnitzel. And now we were ready to eat...
Only to find that the two burgers we received initially along with the fries were less than luke warm now after all the waiting. The "different" burger had both onions and pickles that we had explicitly ordered not to be included.
The text for the Great Dane Burger says that it has cheddar in it. The cheese in our burgers was not cheddar. That be as it may, the burgers in all their luke warmness, actually tasted quite decent. We all liked the blend of tastes of meat, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, the bbq and that the meat wasn't too salty.
The burger buns also were tastefull and surprisingly soft considering that they ended up almost cold before we could eat them.
The fries for the two burgers we got initially were almost cold and on top of that also quite generic, bland even. Nothing you couldn't just buy at the local supermarket or make better at home. Considering that we would even have to pay extra for any kind of dipping sauce makes the whole burger and fries option a lot less attractive.
The jägerschnitzel had a lot going for it on the menu, mushroom sauce and roasted chunky potatoe cuts. Our neighbouring table had been served this exact dish half an hour earlier and the smell of crispy fried pork in batter had my child's mouth watering in anticipation.
The batter was good. Really good! But the meat was absolutely bland, with no taste almost to the point of being cardboardy. The small serving of mushroom sauce tasted authentic with those earthy notes that we all want from a mushroom sauce, but it was too little, too cold and too sticky, almost like mayonnaise.
Nicola our main waiter was very polite and sincerely apologized for the wait multiple times and asked us if the food had been worth the wait. Because as he said that he could se in our faces that we might not be satisfied customers. His friendly and polite manners deserves every one of the three stars above. Im not angling for freebies, but one maybe even two stars could be earned here, if he on behalf of The Great Dane had just offered us some kind of compensation. Either a reduction in price for the dinner, desserts on the house around the table or something similar to show us that Nicolas humble apology on behalf of his employer had any consequence beside a shrug of the shoulders.
The spacious and well lit restaurant has a nice and family friendly ambience to it and has a gorgeous view over the bay area.
All in all the burgers and the side of fries in and of themselves were just ok maybe worth even three stars. But when you add in the horridly uninspiring schnitzel, pricing, the waiting and that we had to prompt the staff two times to get our full order served and still not getting it right, The Great Dane is not in any way or form on our top choice in the future.
At least we were able to wait for our food in lovely surroundings. We would land it on two stars but Nicola earned The Great Dane...
Read moreI ordered a pizza with mortadella. After approximately 45 minutes I asked where the pizza was. Shortly after I got a burnt pizza. I looked under one of the mortadella slices and saw a large hole in the middle of the pizza. The hole looked to be intentionally covered by the mortadella to hide the hole. I asked for a new pizza and got one shortly after, this time with a lot less mortadella. The pizza was alright, but lacked sauce/cheese and was a bit dry therefore only really saved by the burrata on it. The burrata was quite tasty though.
I did get an apology for the burnt...
Read moreDisappointed with the food- the beef tenderloin was so dry, even tho you could taste the good quality cut however it was dry and under seasoned, and the sauce was barely there. We had to ask for sauce and we got the wrong sides. And the arancini had no flavour and and not fit for a main course. The waiters were very nice and should get credit for their work. It’s newly renovated and modern and seemed kid friendly. But shame the food did not live up to...
