Unfortunately they didn't want you taking pictures of the majority of the artwork, but it was incredible! It's almost like you need extra pairs of eyes to take everything in šššš!! I normally go to a completely different area of Mexico for our yearly vacation, so I was expecting to eat a whole lot more elotes and churros, but blessed be, I finally got my elote here and it was delicious. I bought the majority of my souvenirs for family back home here as well. I thought I had just purchased a beautiful linen scarf with sequin trim but on my last night when we were getting dolled up to go to dinner I realized that not only was it a scarf but it could also be worn as a shawl. Everything that we saw and purchased from there was incredible. I will say the prices in Cabo are a lot higher than most places I've been to in Mexico; I've been to eight other places minimum in Mexico and they also aren't really big on haggling. It seemed like they might take off 20 or 30 pesos or dollars if you're lucky but expect to spend money just make sure you are checking out other stalls and stores because I found better quality items once I took the time to look and not just impulse by. I will say that the silver and opals were magnificent but the price of silver in Cabo in general seem to be very very overpriced. So I actually did not leave with the jewelry that I hoped, but I did get some rather amazing other items like a cotton shawl, the sequin scarf / shawl in the picture I posted, and a lot of other very gorgeous items. But yeah bring cash!!! All in all it was a really fun time and there was a ton of stuff to look at and the sellers do make the most of the tourism opportunity but they are not so aggressively annoying like they are in the more flea market type sales areas. They actually gave you space to look and didn't come out with the cheesy lines. It was really fun and I would definitely go again although I would say give yourself a minimum of 3 to 4 hours because there is a ton of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEvery Thursday the event takes place around the old Catholic Church in San Jose del Cabo.
It starts around 5 pm, and goes on to 9 pm, when the local artists, craftsmen and women set up to didplay their creative work.
The art work is quite distinct and truly interesting, although I honestly do not know if what looks so appealing here would look as good on my wall back home.
The walk is not confined only to the plaza but goes along the surrounding streets full of art shops offering paintings, leatherwork, ceramics and fabrics. And lots of handmade jewelry.
You will need 3 to 4 hours to see everything if you are interested in getting some of those beautiful pieces.
There is a gallery next to the church that had some beautiful ceramics.
These stores are also open on other days. So you can come back to shop another day if you cannot be sure during the art walk.
Deciding a fair price on the art walk is challenging because most walkers are tourists. So it is case of buying something you like for the asking price. Not necessarily the best deal. But you can haggle a bit. 15% discount is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had been in pretty remote places and wanted the chance to buy some stuff. The shops are ultra touristy with tourist prices. There was a good variety of food stands and restaurants and shops. The art walk itself though was great. So many great artists. We were happy to get some things to take home. These are legit artists with legit artist pricing though. Definitely worth it, but just something to take note of. All the artists we bought from accepted card, but there are ATMs close by to pull pesos or USD. Iām so glad we went even if it was over the...
